Followed the advice on clearing cache in recovery, phone now BRICKED!

I'm on a rooted Note 3, but these forums seem more active & the recovery menu should be the exact same on all Samsung phones & I was hoping since theer are more people here, someone might know more.

I read SEVERAL times that it was safe to clear the cache option in the recovery mode to speed up my phone. Did that & my phone is bricked
When I start the phone, it gives me this message

"Process system isn't responding
do you want to close it?
"

After that message, I get like 7 other messages one after another saying stuff like
unfortunately, Media Storage has stopped
unfortunately, Settings has stopped
etc...

The screen is black outside of those messages. & never boots to the home screen.

Is there a way I can fix this without doing a hard factory reset?
I don't want all my apps & contact info to be deleted.

When I go to recovery mode again, I can select these options

-reboot system now
-apply update from adb
-apply update from external storage
-wipe data/factory reset
-wipe cache partition
-apply update from cache

Will any of them will fix my phone?
I don't want to touch any of them again without knowing 100% if it won't mess my phone even more.

Unfortunately rooted phones (especially if you flashed different ROMs) are whole different beasts. I will not even try to sound knowledgeable on those because I'm not.

All I can tell you is that for stock phones (there are exceptions, but those are either covered by warranty or just plain duds) clearing cache is quite safe! Now, as for the options presented, they do pretty much what they say. Unless you have a pending update in cache, or an external update file in your SD card, or are connected via ADB and want to update, those shouldn't do anything at all. You could try re-clearing cache and see if that helps.
