Font size has increased since update?

I updated my Note II's software around a week ago to the most up to date android platform, but since doing so, the text size in the stock messaging app doesn't decrease to the size it used to, so the smallest I can get it is to the size up from what it used to be. I use the volume keys to adjust the size and I have this setting saved. The font size for the rest of the phone is on the smallest it can be but as soon as I go into the messaging app and view a conversation, the size increases a lot. Usually this wouldn't be a problem, but as I've got the note 2, I don't really need the text to be that big anyway, so is there any way I can decrease the size?
