Footsteps and Peep keep starting

For some reason Footprints and the Peep service keep starting up. I disabled auto-sync and am not using twitter or Facebook. What gives? My battery life is terrible and I haven't spent all that much time on the internet. I haven't even talked on the phone since the last charge.

They are supposed to. They're just "ghost" processes, use no resources, but are ready if you decide to run them. If you don't run them, they close down if the memory is needed elsewhere.

That's not why your battery is draining in other words.
