I'm ordering my Moto X first thing in the morning and there's only one thing i'm skeptical about. I'm torn between a plastic back and a bamboo one. I've looked around the internet and can't seem to find an answer to my concern. Those of you with Wood backs, how do they fair against being dropped? My current moto X (last years) has been run over by cars and it works perfectly, it's a plastic back. I just know my luck and don't want to spend the extra to have it peel or discolor or crack.

So how do the wooden backs hold up against drops / water / etc? Any stories? :)

Thank you!

I'm a Moto X(2014) user and I use a plastic back. But my friend has a bamboo one. But he is definitely happy with it. Yes, there is concern of keeping it away from water as the nano-coating for water resistance only covers the screen. But......it can take drops easily and is really sturdy. In the end, its up to you. There's not much difference but the poly carbonate(plastic) back does have the edge on durability

I have the bamboo back and I love it. I held a leather and a plastic one and the feel of the bamboo was better for me. Also, it's pretty and everyone likes to check it out. When they find out it's not a case, it gets plenty of "OOOOOH" and "AAAAAAH".

my girlfriend is on her 3rd "moto-x 2013" due to cracked screens from dropping it, and she has it in an otterbox. i'd say your luck is pretty good if yours has been run over.
I cracked mine last month. Finally sent it in for a $100 'return for exchange' last week. Received a tracking # for a replacement that never shipped. Called today, was informed there are no more parts for the 2013 X, promptly given a promo code for a free 2014 X. With customer support like that I'm buying damn near anything they're selling with no worries. They refunded my $100 too 💃
