For anyone who's just purchased a Pixel 6/6 Pro...

If you have recently gotten a Pixel 6/6 Pro, did it come with all the latest patches and updates? Does it have many of the problems being reported by folks who bought theirs a while back?

I purchased a P6P a few days ago directly from a Verizon store, the 256g version. I'm coming from a 2XL.
So far I have not experienced any of the phone issues others have reported. In regard to the FPS, I have two fingers registered, followed the set up instructions, have multiple parts of each fingerprint registered. The result has been near flawless recognition, including in low temperatures and direct sunlight.
The phone did not have all the updates at activation, however they all came a few hours later. The updates took quite awhile to download. I am currently on the February
security update.
Battery life has not been a issue so far.
I can tell that the P6P is much heavier than the 2XL, but this will not be a issue for me.

If this makes any difference, the Costco Phone Kiosk now carries the Pixel 6/6Pro, finally.

Running flawlessly here ... Updates are back in line monthly..

This question is for anyone. Is this the consensus among most P6 pro users? Have most of the "bugs" been dealt with? Were the reception issues cleared up? Although I currently have the z flip 3 and S22 plus. The draw of a good pixel phone is still strong.

Thanks

I'm happy user with (almost) no complaints on the Pixel 6. Yeah, I wish the fingerprint reader was a bit more accurate. It's good about 90% of the time, then I just try again and it works.

The phone works. What I mean is that for me there are no bugs per se. My complaints are part of the design decisions they made with the phone. Reception/connectivity is worse than my Pixel 2 it replaced. The fingerprint reader is worse than the P2. Neither is fatal, but they are noticeably worse. If my P2 still got updates (even security if not OS), I would have returned my P6 and waited for next year. I will be replacing the P6 with either the P7 (if they can fix these things) or Samsung's S23.

My P6P is great. Only had YouTube related issues, these are pretty much gone. I've got the battery life of a pixel 5. I've kept the screen at 60Hz and it's smooth. I'll revisit the smooth display setting when the March update comes.
Of note, going into my garage, I dropped my naked phone, it hit the steps and tumbled across the cement floor. Checked the phone with a magnifying glass, not even a tiny scratch anywhere.

I got a Pixel 6 2 weeks ago and it's been amazing. After falling for the 100x Zoom on the S20 Ultra, I promised myself I wouldn't let gaudy specs blind me, and that zoom, curved screen and 120hz refresh wasn't worth $400 to me.

Anyway, the only gripes I have are that the fingerprint sensor absolutely sucks. I rock a tempered glass screen protector on all my phones, and that only makes it worse. I'm sure that without one, I'd unlock 50% of the time, but with a screen protector on and screen sensitivity turned on, I'm literally at 20% success rate.

Besides that, the customization features are starting to feel a little Apple-ish in the sense that it's becoming very vanilla and restrictive. The "custom" colors that "adapt" to the wallpapers are the same 6 shades, and often times, it's 4 choices, but it's the same choice 4 times! I kid you not.

Widgets are also kinda wack, since the coolest ones, time and weather, are redundant since they just repeat the same information that is already on the Google Now banner or on the status and notification display at the top of the screen, neither of which can't be turned off or hidden.

Besides that, the camera is amazing, except it doesn't get unlimited photo storage (which is why I'm actively buying and stocking up on pixel 3s and 4s), and it's dependable.

Try Nova Launcher. It will open up a whole new world of customization.

There's also a setting to increase screen sensitivity that compensates for screen protectors.

I subscribe to Microsoft Office on my Windows 11 PC. This gives me a Terabyte of OneDrive cloud storage! I'll never run out of storage as it automatically backs up my phone photos when I added the OneDrive app.

I've tried Nova Launcher, and even got carried away with making my own widgets. Too much work, but yeah, I could see going that route if I really wanted to customize more things.

I also have 2 Terabytes of Google storage, but it just goes to photos and videos of my family...it projects I have 4 years worth of photos and videos before it runs out. We'll see about that.

My six is just fine, as is the five I have running GrapheneOS.
