For Galaxy S6: Is there a way to play youtube videos in background??

Samsung Galaxy S6. Can't figure out how to get youtube to play in background! Is it even possible? Thanks!

Have you accidentally disabled background playback?

Background play

With a Music Key subscription, you can navigate to other apps on your mobile device and your video will continue to play in the background, similar to navigating to new browser windows on a desktop computer while your YouTube video continues to play in the background.

Disable background

By default, background is enabled at all times. You can choose to disable it completely by following these steps:

In the YouTube app for Android, tap the menu icon, and select Settings
Select Background & Offline
Below Background play, select Playback
Make your selection:
Off means video will never continue in the background
Headphones or speakers means video will only continue in the background if you’ve connected headphones or an external audio device
This feature is only available on Android devices running Android version 4.0 or above.
Background playback controls

When a video is in the background, you can pause, play, or skip through videos in a playlist directly from the notifications tray or the lock screen.

I dont have the "Background anf Offline" option in my Youtube app settings.

Then you probably don't have Google Play Music subscription or Youtube Music Key subscription.

There are apps in the play store that will allow you to do that. Otherwise, you need to be a Google music subscriber. I have a subscription with Google.

It can be frustrating playing YouTube videos in the background though. The system will kill off the service after you open a certain amount of apps. So often times, you will lose your place in a video which can be a pain if you're listening to podcasts. So you have to keep switching back to it in order to keep it running.
