I pre-ordered mine from MobileCity, but these are legit sites...add more if you find any
My contract ends 2014 but I'm willing to pay for it unlocked

MobileCity: Galaxy S4 (Unlocked) = $749
https://www.mobilecityonline.com/wireless/store/productdetail.asp?productid=31889

CellHut: Galaxy S4 (Unlocked) = $749
Samsung I9500 Galaxy S4 Black Unlocked: Price, Reviews, Specification : Cellhut.com

NOTE:
- Prices may change (lower or higher) as release date and official pricing comes closer....just make sure you have the money to put up
- They WILL NOT charge your credit card until the phone is released, and you will have the option to cancel before then if you change your mind

Thanks for the links.. But $749 sounds a bit steep to me - even if it is unlocked. I would wait until the price comes down to about $600 or less.

Osho

Thanks for the links, I'm tied down until 2014 and looking to buy an unlocked verison too. With the retailers in the UK selling the phone for $900+ and AT&T possibly selling the 16GB version for $249 I was afraid the markup would be ridiculous, especially the octa core version I'm considering buying.

All unlocked phones of recent memory except the Nexus 4 have cost 600+.

FWIW, AT&T will not be selling for $249...that will just be the subsidized price for new customers and those eligible for upgrade, and will also require a 2 year contract. If you buy from AT&T without contract, it will be much closer to the $600~750 range.

Oh I know. I only listed AT&T because of a steep markup if that $249 is indeed for the 16GB model in relation to what the same phones price would probably unlocked. I think the question is why is AT&T selling it $50 more than what 16GB phones go for if that's their starting price for subsidy.

Those prices tend to go up over time, but I guess we'll wait and see what the real price is. I guess the point I was making is that the steep markup isn't just due to the fact that the phone is unlocked...it's the fact that it also isn't tied to a 2 year contract -- that's the real reason for the price difference.

Please to note neither of the phones at those links are LTE capable.

Thats what I was wondering as well, because the specifications says its LTE capable, and when I called and asked them they said it was...but idk

What's stopping somebody who wants an unlocked S4 from buying a T-Mobile version at full price and getting it unlocked?

If it's like iPhone 5, it'll come out cheaper.

The difference is that if you buy if from T-Mobile, any updates will be dependent on the carrier (which usually takes much longer), but if you buy it str8 unlocked, you won't have to wait on any carrier to send updates
