Walmart.com, the only place that's selling the ST SIMS, are running out. Orders are being limited to 2 and they're out of the Micro SIMS now.

So you might want to get yours while you can. I've read the forum for the last few months after getting my Nexus 4, my first smartphone believe it or not. Just thought I'd finally post something.

To be frank, Straight Talk sucks. Just read their terms/privacy policy, and you'll know what I mean. I would just stick with Tmobile, solevai or if super fast data isn't of concern, then Go Smart Mobile (run by tmobile)

Not to hijack the thread, but could you elaborate? I had been thinking of getting Straight Talk and hadn't heard anything bad about them.

I have Straight Talk and it does NOT suck. I've been on it for about 5 months and couldn't be happier. Granted I'm not on my Nexus 4 yet, I have had no problems with Straight Talk on my Pre 3. I had also switched my mother over to it on an iPhone 3G, and I got my cousin on it to it using an iPhone 4S. They are loving it and have no complaints. I do have the AT&T Sims and cannot comment for the T-Mobile side. I've gotten data speeds of 8Mpbs, my average speeds are 3-4Mbps. Bad days I get 1Mbps. Usually I just hit Airplane mode for about 5 mins and turn it off again and my speeds come back. I will say this however, expect crappy customer service. I was already warned of this from other forums so its not a big deal, I was already informed of what I was getting into when it came to that side of things. My experience with them wasn't as nightmarish as I thought but it still wasn't great. They say Straight Talk won't bother you so long as you stay within a 2Gb data range, so far I haven't passed 1.5gb by the months end. Usually I'll switch to WiFi at home if I'm doing any streaming. I even tether to my tablet with now problem. Like I said, so long as you stay within a 2gb range they won't bother you. I have had a friend at work running up his data past 3gb and they slowed his connection down. He just called them up and they reinstated it after a small warning. I've seen him get away with it 5 times within a week lol. He is a terrible abuser however, after a month they did cut him completely off, entire service and not just his data. They said he would have to buy another sim to get reinstated.

Voice has been great, no complaints there, haven't had a dropped call yet. Texts go threw instantly, picture mail works fine. I have random occurrences where once in a blue moon a picture wouldn't go threw. Again this was fixed with a hit of Airplane mode for a couple mins. Not really sure what's going on there. But all in all Straight Talk has been great for me and does not suck.

My friend also has Straight Talk on a Nexus 4 and so far its been keeping him happy. I received 2 micro Sims from Wal-Mart so I'll soon enjoy it with my Nexus 4 too.

I placed my order yesterday morning for a micro sim card and air time card bundle and it shipped this morning via fed ex

I've been dealing with Straight Talk's customer service quite a bit over this past week... long story short: ported my number from my previous carrier to Straight Talk, only to find out that the SIM it was ported to was defective. It's taken several calls trying to deal with that - convincing me, and then them, that the sim is bad, getting a replacement sim, getting the number moved yet again, etc. I've found the Straight Talk customer service people aren't all that bad; (except for one of them I encountered).

My biggest issue has been that It's HUGE pain to get a phone call through to them, though... Most of the time you get an automated "due to unusually high call volume, we can't take your call. Please call back". As far as I can tell, their "unusually high call volume" is actually pretty usual for them. Their hours are 8am to midnight. I've learned it's best to just call them at around 8am - they'll answer right away. If you call in the middle of the day or evening... forget it; there's no hope.

As a side note - related to all the doom and gloom discussion going on these days about them no longer selling AT&T SIMs... once they agreed with me that my AT&T SIM was bad, the Straight Talk customer service girl offered to send me a replacement AT&T sim. I didn't even have to ask; she just said she'd do it. She even knew to send a micro SIM (even though the defective one was a regular SIM that I'd cut down) based on me mentioning the type of phone earlier.

Also my first smartphone. The Nexus 4 + straight talk combo was good enough of a deal to finally ditch Verizon and a plain phone. I suspected that the AT&T cards would run out so I ordered early, and in fact it arrives today. I chose AT&T because it seems to be the general feeling that their regular phone service is much better nationwide and that is what is most important to me; after all, it is a phone. But if I get bad reception at my house, I will give T Mobile a try the following month.

I used ST for two months before I got rid of it. Their TOS states that you can not watch video or stream music. If you get caught they will throttle you way down. Their customer service is very poor unless you are aggressive and escalate your call to a supervisor. I'm pretty certain they use primarily ATT to move their traffic. Att sucks in my area so I went with tmobile. Unlimited data 5gb and throttled after that. Unlimited text and 100 minutes. A workaround regarding the minutes is to use a VoIP service. It's only $30 per month. ST will work fine for people that have modest data needs. I use less than 2gb per month but I don't want to be shut down when I'm streaming pandora for a few hours on a road trip.

I hate straight talk.

I had them once before, ported my number, had it for 3 months and they sent me a text telling me I'm using too much data.

I asked how can I use too much data on an unlimited data plan? They said I can't use too much (foreigners by the way) I asked what's too much, they said excessive amounts, I asked them to give me a straight answer, how much is my limit? They still couldn't answer.

They actually ended the call with "thank you and please continue to enjoy your straight talk service"

HA!

Funny.

I waited for my next pay date and I was going to port my number out to another carrier and before it happened, they cut me off and I lost my number! A number I'd had for years!

I contacted them for a refund but they refused.

Jokes on them though, I filled a chargeback with my credit card and not only got the current month refunded but the month before as well.

The reason?

A service I didn't sign up for was taking money out of my account.

I see now they express the 2.5gb limit then throttling, but they didn't do that back then. They just did unlimited data which totally wasn't true.

I hope they eventually go out of business for lying.

I've had ST for two years. I use it on my Nexus 4. I have had no problems. On the rare occasion I have had to call customer service I have been frustrated by the long waits and then with their stilted English and pat answers they are reading off of cue cards. I think customer service is ST's major downside. Otherwise, I have watched videos, even HBOGO today, and gotten very close to my g limit and never been throttled. I'll stick with ST for now. They give me grief -- and they haven't in more than two years -- and I'm gone.

Not true anymore. About 6 months ago, they clarified that they now have a 2.5GB a month limit before they throttle, and they also relaxed their TOS to allow media streaming.
The TOS no longer forbids music and video, but does say they still forbid continuous streaming of video.

I'm pretty certain they use primarily ATT to move their traffic.
No, it's your choice when you sign up. You purchase either from them a SIM that puts you on AT&T or a SIM that puts you on Tmobile.

Wouldn't want to chance it with those idiots again. If I want to stream video I should be permitted. It's MY 2.5 gb and I should be permitted to use it any way I seem fit.

I have a straight talk phone from walmart for a year now. The phone worked good a week ago. The ringer want work Now the speaker
stopped working. So $100 for a phone to work a yard SUCKS............

My girlfriend, my son and myself are all on straight talk.. girlfriend has the nexus 4, son has moto x 1st gen, both bought from swappa, I have nexus 5, all on their at&t Sims.. never had any issues with their service, very satisfied.. have WiFi at home and at work, so only use data when out and about where there is no WiFi available, only use around a gig per month.. to our experience, straight talk does not suck, we are very happy with their service.. I would rate the coverage better than Verizon where we ported from..

Myself.... I'd go with a Prepaid Verizon at the local Walmart. If u can find a decent fone there. Or better yet just order one online cheaper at online walmart n have it shipped to ur local store to pick up or to ur home. Verizon rocks.
