For those refusing shipment and "picking one up"

Because I have American Express and they're absolutely rock solid with this type of stuff.

+1

But Google wouldn't let me charge that purchase to Amex when I bought from Play. Dunno if that's only a Canadian restriction.

Amex is awesome. I once bought a $200 airline ticket. Days after I bought the ticket, the airline went under. Called Amex. They credited my account and helped me rebook the ticket at no cost.

I do pay for a Platinum charge card. But moments like these, it's worth the lack of stress.

Is refusing shipment as easy as me leaving a note on my front door (supposed to deliver tomorrow) with the tracking number telling them I refuse it and to return it to shipper?

Put it this way. If you go into a restaurant and the waitress tells you the days Ribeye steak special, then tells you it will take 10-15 minutes to prepare then goes to bring it to you on the 14th and a half minute, are you going to run down the street to Texas Roadhouse and pick one up because they charge $3 less?

That's more like the experience I've had with Google and the Nexus 7. Sorry you didn't or expected different than what was clearly stated. Available in 2-3 weeks, mine is being delivered tomorrow. Order placed on Jun 27. Check the calendar. Do I wish it was last week instead of tomorrow? Certainly. But within my expected timeline because that timeline is what was clearly stated.

Again, your argument is premised on your opinion that Google met its expectations. The voices on here, on their own Google+ post, and countless other sites and forums, clearly suggest that there was more than an expectation of getting it in at the 14 and a half minute.

How about this? You go in to a restaurant and order. An hour later, somebody walks in, orders and walks out with a take-out container in 10 minutes, while you're still waiting for your food. Still think the service at the restaurant is great? After all, as long as they feed you before the end of the night they met their obligation....

The shipping charges are just insult to injury for most people. Nobody minds paying them when you know there is some benefit to it (ie. early delivery). But when you pay shipping charges and you get it later than retail, customers will be upset, regardless of whether Google met its obligations.

ps. If I go to a restaurant and there's a long lineup, I don't wait. I go to another restaurant. I consider it shady, if a restaurant tells me the wait is 10 minutes and I end up waiting 30. Either the tip is lower or my chances of going back there are diminished, or both.

I'm actually going to refuse delivery of mine because the additional time I've had to think about this purchase has made me feel that I don't really need a tablet. Would it be fun to have? Yes, absolutely. Are there better things that I could spend my $246 on? Yep. Nothing personal against Google, I just don't NEED one at this time.

PS I did try canceling my order over a week ago but they told me it was too late as the orders were going to be shipped soon. As of right now, my credit card still has not been charged for my Nexus 7 and case which were ordered on June 27th.

Here's a crazy idea. Some people just wanted to get the tablet a few days earlier and saw the opportunity to do so. Good for them! :)

Why can we not have a conversation that we don't make personal attacks. Trolling or troll calling is not allowed here as it only makes things worse. Its fine to disagree but no need for name calling. Anyway mine comes tomorrow and while waiting was not fun it was no big deal. If you were leaving for vacation I would have went to the store and then refused too. We will all have our devices soon.

Super Mod, I agree. I started this thread to express an opinion and get called names and told basically I had no right to even start the damn thing.

I for one, after this post, intend to let this thread die. AC has way too many people that think because you don't agree with them you should be bashed and flamed and called names.

It's getting a bit old, but it happens everywhere.

I apologize if I let it get to me and fell into their low minded ways.

Well you are basically telling us how we are suppose to think. Of course you offended a few people. You aren't the judge on what I think should be reasonable.

No problem. I'll kill it off.
