For us former Note 20 users. How does the S22U feel?

I'm concerned about the storage space. Went ahead and took the risk of being without the SD Card. After downloading all my apps and transferring all my pictures the storage is 350/512 GB used... 162 GB free. I usually take a lot of pictures haha. We'll see. Overall I like the phone. And still have my NOTE 20 ULTRA to go back to in the extreme case if I need it.

For me there is not much difference with the Note 20 ultra but it does feel snappier and cameras seem better too, I like the feel and look of the matte back though

I don't use cases much so the matte back makes a huge difference for me. It's definitely snappier than the Note 20U but the N20U was still a great phone. It's definitely a good improvement. I've also adapted to cloud storage so after a few months I clean up phone and delete the photos and videos that have already backed up to Google Photos. That option in Google Photos to clean up your device is amazing.

Apart from the loss of MST, the S22U is an improvement over the N20U in just about every practical way (for me.)

One thing that hasn't been mentioned (or discussed much) is that the main camera appears to have gained back dual-aperture focus. Now when I take pictures of documents or other objects that require edge-to-edge focus, I actually succeed, whereas it was a 100% failure rate with the Note 20U's razor thin depth of field, where even a tilt of the phone would cause parts of the object to appear out of focus. In One UI 4, Samsung even added an on-screen message (on N20U) suggesting to step back and take a picture with the telephoto lens for a clearer picture of text.

As much as I loved the 5x optical zoom, I love the 10x even more (2x more to be precise.) Taking videos of my kids during sports is even more enjoyable now.

So intitially I purchased the Whitestone Dome back camera glass protector, as I really liked the design of their s21 Ultra model. Unfortunately the S22 Ultra design isn't nearly as good. It doesn't provide protection of the glass on the cameras, and also isn't very case friendly.

Did some further research and feel like I hit a home run, ordering the ESR back camera protection for the S22 Ultra. Really good design that covers all five camera bulps individually and appears to be more case friendly. Waiting for it to arrive to me by next Wednesday.

I have these, like Pags11 mentioned. They're easy to install and work with the Samsung cases with individual cut outs. The Spiegen didn't work. If your cases have the P shaped opening, they'll be fine.

I saw these and wouldn't mind getting them. I'm just worried about possible condensation between the lens and protector. And I have cases with individual cutouts. So I'll think about it. Thanks for the tip.

The main thing is to make sure a case has a lot of depth around the camera for protection.

I've been playing with the s22 ultra since I got to work and it feels like.... a note 20 .lol I'm going to keep it though because I've already told my sister I'd sell her my note 20. Kinda don't want to do it now. Lol

Thanks for the pictures, comments and analysis on this post. Anybody else's feedback would be appreciated. I'm on the fence with my N20U. I did order the 1TB S22U but I have time to think on it and cancel if I want since delivery isn't until April 15.

I have a Note 10+ and there doesn't seem to be much difference so I know the Note 20 folks aren't seeing anything. It's just a new phone

The only reason I'm upgrading is for the promised updates, my Note 10+ just got its last update. After this I'm keeping my phone for as long as possible.

To me it feels like the same phone, only slightly faster and cooler and doesn't wobble so much from the huge camera bump on the N20U. But that's just me.

If you're not using a screen protector are you keeping the touch sensitivity switched on still?

I am. I just want to protect the screen as much as possible. Using the EGV film protector.

If you live and die by battery life, you will be better off with the S21U

Not stupid, but if you like the S21 U, I don't think its necessary to get the S22 Ultra. Unless you like the Note series better. As the S22 Ultra is basically the Note 22 in design and function.
