For us former Note 20 users. How does the S22U feel?

Since I only got mine yesterday, the very first thing I noticed is that it's noticeably heavier then the Note 20 Ultra. I see what people say about the lack of smoothness in pulling out the Spen, which I'm fine - like others said, it probably makes it more secure from falling out. One thing though - that soft rubbery feel.. I am mixed about things that are in that sort of silicone type casing because over time it sort of gets sticky and nasty - but I think that's several years off and extreme temps away. I like the camera look - reminds me of the ZF3 without the extra cameras - and bigger lenses. I won't be putting anything on them to protect it further.

The fingerprint sensor is SOOOO FAST compared to my Note 20 U and from my experience more accurate! This is after I put my Whitestone Dome on, but it detects my fingerprints most of the time instantly. Wow, I'm very thrilled about that! I was beginning to grow to like the fingerprint scanner in the power button a la ZF3, but if it's going to remain this fast on the screen, this would be great!

I haven't used the cameras much yet but I did a test on a building an the 30x zoom seems really impressive, just like the pics I've seen here.

I have no idea about battery life. The first day with few apps, the battery feels like it'll last forever. Give it 2 days when I'm done installing my 650 apps that I will have and I feel it'll probably be like my Note 20U and need to charge every day.

That's all I see for now. Happy thus far!

Agree. Battery life and screen are better on 22U vs N20U. I haven't played around enough with the camera to form an opinion.

Camera from what I seen are better sharper and zoom is on different Level from Note20u haven't tested night photos yet

I can tell the difference in the weight, the smoothness in scrolling, the crispness of the display and definitely the camera resolution. I'm happy with the upgrade. I was getting worried with the N20U and the BSOD risk, so I was relieved to get it early on Monday.

What BSOD risk?

I agree with everything you said prior to that.

BSOD usually means "blue screen of death" but I haven't heard of that being an issue on the Note 20 Ultra. Of course I traded my N20U a long time ago so I haven't been keeping up.

A few first impressions. Definitely heavier, and I find I get less text on the screen. The size and font is the same as my Note.

The screen is brighter, the camera seems better although I've only taken a few pics. I haven't even changed my Sim yet.

And it's pretty. I like it so far, but I've nothing bad to say about my N20U. With just the few hours I've played around, I don't feel like I upgraded. I just got a new phone. I'd probably get the same feeling from doing a factory reset and start my Note from scratch. I'm about 70% sure I'm keeping it. The weekend will decide its fate.

You shouldn't get less text. I briefly thought something was awry, but I checked the zoom setting. It was different.

Not sure what you use your phone for but there is a significant difference in my experience. Then again, I probably fall into the power user category.

Coming from the Note 20 Ultra, it's a tiny bit shorter, but it feels so much wider even though I know it's minimal. It makes interacting much more pleasant even if it is harder to hold with one hand due to the width. I'm sure writing with the spen will be better too. It also feels much heavier as well.

The screen is definitely brighter holding them side by side, and it's a much cooler display than the note. The note is a warmer display which looks almost yellow in comparison. I only noticed this holding them side by side, but I now realize I favor the cooler brighter display of the S22 ultra.

I'm not rushing to judgment on battery life because it's still learning, but my battery life has been pretty bad. I also have the display cranked almost all the way up and have the display settings running adaptive with full definition, something I couldn't do with the Note which is really cool! I know that takes a toll on the battery. I also noticed it's running much hotter than my Note. I still need to do some tweaking because I have almost 400 apps loaded and I need to sleep and deep sleep a lot of them. Could be a lot of them are running in the background unnecessarily putting strain on the battery.

I'm still not experiencing this excessive heat. It definitely hasn't gotten hotter than my Note 20 Ultra did.

I'm concerned about the storage space. Went ahead and took the risk of being without the SD Card. After downloading all my apps and transferring all my pictures the storage is 350/512 GB used... 162 GB free. I usually take a lot of pictures haha. We'll see. Overall I like the phone. And still have my NOTE 20 ULTRA to go back to in the extreme case if I need it.

Coming from the N20U (still have it as it is the last official Note) with 512 GB internal and a 512 GB SD card, I had to go with the 1 TB.

Black Screen Of Death, there's many people on the Note 20 sub reddit who had this problem. I was counting the days until I got the S22U hoping it wouldn't happen to mine or my husband's phone. People would turn their phone off and the next morning it would be DOA. Nothing could get it restarted. Several people needed a new screen or entire motherboard replaced. Just Google Reddit Note 20 blank screen of death.

That happened to my N20U twice but I didn't know it was a thing. I was able to resolve it by getting into the boot menu. Now, another reason I'm happy I upgraded to the S22U.

I thought it was happening to my Note 20 Ultra, I'd be using the phone, and the screen would just shut off, but would immediately come back on. When Tmobile offered 1000.00 trade, it was a done deal, I let it go before the screen didn't come back on

Nice! This is what I wanted to hear. I have N20U and battery def has degraded over the last 2 years. If it's even slightly better than what I'm getting now, I'll be happy!

I never liked my Note 20u battery life it was OK but S22u is better

Pretty much the only reason I upgraded is the S22 series supports C-band where the Note 20 doesn't.

I had the Note 20U but only for a couple of months when it first came out. I will have my S22U soon and hope the battery woes I hear will apply less to me when I choose 60hz and FHD+. We shall see.

I traded in my Note 20 Ultra for the S22 Ultra 512MB in Burgundy and I am loving it! It is faster and smoother than the Note 20. I like the width and with my case on, I barely notice it is a tiny bit shorter. Everything transferred over fine with Smart Switch. No complaints yet!

How's the battery life compared to the N20U?

Battery life is good. I have not noticed any severe plunges in battery life at all. Overall, it's comparable if not better than my Note 20 Ultra.
