Force Update/Upgrade?

Wow, I can't even do that! The ROM Update Utility cannot connect to your Android phone. I think there is clearly something wrong with my device. Thanks again, but it appears more and more likely that I am doomed. lol

Haha, you aren't doomed. Chances are you don't have the right drivers installed on your computer. What operating system are you using? Also, have you tried calling *2? Dial *2, press talk, and go to 'My Device' and you should get the upgrade options.
 
@BigDinCA, still no luck. lol@my phone. I can't even get it to connect with the sync manager. I'll try again on my computer at home though. I'm on an XP machine at work, I have Windows 7 at home. Hopefully that will help out some?

@mstrblueskys, no upgrade options available looking there either.
 
That's what I'm running here as well, Win7 64-bit. The drivers were a pain, for sure. But it did finally connect correctly. Once it connects to Sync Manager and it lets you change the sync settings along the top bar you should be good to go.
 
It says it should take about 10 minutes, and it's been over 30 with no change. Should I get nervous yet?

The screen is black on the device? What is the status of the RUU running on the desktop? I'm hesitant to tell you to unplug it, for fear of bricking the phone.
 
I got it out of that and was finally able to get it to run. I had to run that utility twice to get it to update, but it finally went. I'm now on software version 3.15.651.16 710RD, Android 4.1.1! Still an update behind, but gaining ground! Thank you!!!!!!

EXCELLENT! I assume that you already tried to pull the new update and it didn't work. Since you're at a point where the install is super-fresh, maybe ##786# and then let it activate the device. Maybe then you can pull last week's update. If not, the RUU will be out soon. Check back periodically at the site I linked earlier. It'll show up soon enough. ENJOY YOUR JELLY BEAN!!!
 
Go into apps find Google services framework clear cache and data for it then go check for updates again it should find it
