I recently forgot my password (created after my fingerprint function have failed me) and now I am locked out of my phone. I am with T-Mobile and I have contacted both T-Mobile and Samsung regarding this issue. Both T-Mobile and Samsung told me that the only solution is to do a master reset. There used to be a GMAIL recover option if you have forgotten your password after a couple of tries, but that is completely gone now (I do remember the GMAIL informatioon associated with this phone). I've tried to reset my phone numerous times, and it just makes me wait 30 seconds before re-entering...there is no other reset options.

Funny thing is, I do believe that I am entering the right password in the last few tries (after many failed attempts). Does anyone know if you enter your password too much, it will not work after a while even if you enter the right password?

Is there anyone out of this sticky situation? I find it very absurd and ridiculous how master reset is the only option for everyone who lost their phone, especially when I remember my GMAIL information. I have important information in my phone and sentimental pictures and chats that I share with my friends and family and have not yet backed up.

You can try resetting your password through the Android Device Manager as long as you do have the right credentials for the Google Account set up in your phone.

Just log into Google Play on a browser, tap the gear icon on the right, select Android Device Manager, and you can reset your lockscreen password from there on your phone.

Welcome to Android Central! We see this issue come up so many times that I'm tempted to tell everyone with a Samsung device that they should completely avoid using the fingerprint scanner. Really not sure what else you can do if it doesn't ask you for your Google credentials. You could try Samsung's Find My Mobile site, but I'm not sure if that lets you remotely reset a password: https://findmymobile.samsung.com/login.do

I got this message after trying the ADM method through my GMAIL:
Since Google has verified that a screen lock is already set, the password you entered won't be needed.

I am assuming since I am locked out with a password lock and not a number or pattern lock, it won't work?

Mmmm... weird. Yeah, I guess it won't let you reset the password. Have you tried booting the phone in Safe Mode and maybe try your fingerprint again (if it's set)?

Samsung's Find My Mobile does have the Unlock feature. It was removed from Google's Android Device Manager, apparently. :(

Do you have 2 step enabled on your Google Account? If so disable that and the Google PW should work via your phones lock screen.

Also remember that the Google Account password recovery only works if your device has a working Internet connection (I'm guessing it does, but still). If you turned off mobile data or WiFi before you got locked in, that's probably not going to show up.

My fingerprint should still be there, but the last password I set is a word password. Would that help?
