Forums still alive?

I have been away from this forum for a while. I recently switched to iOS. I’m still on Android as I have a Lenovo tablet. But in 4 months I’m probably going to switch back to an Android phone.

My question is, is this forum still alive? Or are there other apps and places where people are discussing tech and phones?

Reddit is a mess with all the rules. I got banned from the Samsung sub because I asked a question that apparently broke one of their rules. No warning or anything. It’s a temporary ban for 70 days but still it’s annoying. So I came back here to see if anyone was discussing new phones coming out or what I should buy as a returning Android user. And it seems there aren’t very many people on here anymore.

It's not quite as busy as it was maybe 5 years ago. But there's still plenty of traffic, and you'll find discussions about all kinds of phone brands, not just Pixel and Galaxy.

Welcome back my friend, yeah we are still talking tech here , sorry what happened to you in other forums:(

What Android are you rocking now?

I currently have an iPhone 15PM and Lenovo P12 Pro. It’s the xiaoxin version with Zui on it. In 4 months I’ll have half my iPhone paid off so I’m going to switch back to Samsung probably. Just not sure if I should wait for the S26U or go for the S25U. This was the question I posed on Reddit in the Samsung sub and I got banned.

The s25u is definitely great phone but I would wait and see what the s26 looks like

Thanks. It’s all good. I’ve been banned by two different subs on Reddit because I made a mistake by not reading the rules. It’s stupid. You’d think they’d just remove the post or give you a warning.

I nearly got banned from one subreddit for using a rude word. I don’t remember what the word was, but plainly, it showed what a depraved monstrosity I am at heart.

I got banned from another, but I have no idea what I posted that resulted in that, and couldn’t be bothered to try to understand it.

Anyways, welcome back. :)

Welcome back, Joshua. I missed you because you were a great member here at Android Central.

Personally I'm waiting for the S26 Ultra because my S24 Ultra is still running great, and the battery life is excellent too. I've never had battery issues despite having more than 5½ hours of screen-on time most days. I agree with @mustang7757 to wait and see what the S26 Ultra looks like before getting a new phone. That's my strategy right now.

Thank you for the kind words. Sounds like the best option is to wait for the S26U. That’s what my gut was telling me.

I now use a Garmin watch so it’s a lot easier to switch back and forth between iOS and Android. I tried the Apple Watch and it just wasn’t for me. I’ve never used half the features of any smartwatch.

Anyway, I’ll probably look to get the S26+ as I like the rounded corners instead of the boxy design of the ultra. But it’s hard not to want the best phone out there possible.

You're very welcome.

The S25 Ultra has more rounded corners than the S24 Ultra, so we'll have to wait and see what the S26 Ultra and the S26+ look like. I love the S Pen, so I prefer the Ultra line, but the + line is also good. I had an S10+ that I liked.

I can't really say anything about smart watches because I like mechanical watches like this.

it is not like it used to be, but no forum is these days. Two that I was a member of shut down this past year. I quit a couple of others. Getting too old and too out of date to stay active. of all the forums I still visit, AC is the most active :-)

As far as reddit, it is too easy to get banned from the different subs on there. Too many mini dictators who don't know the first thing about running forums.

One of the many reasons I’m switching back to Android is because I can’t use speech to text on my iPhone when it’s connected to my Ford Fusion sync system in my car. It has basic Bluetooth connectivity and can play music and I can make and receive calls through the car audio system. But it doesn’t have Android auto or CarPlay. So iOS blocks speech to text when it’s connected to it. It’s definitely an inconvenience but I still have to respond to texts sometimes when I’m driving. The only exception is I can use my voice to talk to Google maps to search for directions. I suppose I could use Siri to compose and send messages while I’m driving but I hate Siri.

I'm banned from Reddit for asking a moderator a question which they reported as harassment.

It's a cesspool. Also if you look into it. The major and most popular subs are literally run by around 10 people. Once you have the target painted you're done.

Just hang out here. Relaxed. Great mods. Great community. I troll the new people on occasion here. Fun place to spend some time.
