Found Reference to Bionic in Android Source Code?

I was browsing around the Android source code just now and I stumbled across this, android.git.kernel.org Git - platform/bionic.git/summary

I haven't been around the source code for a while so I don't know if this is a keyword or codename for something else. Anybody familiar with the source code structure know if this is something new or not?

EDIT: Ok I'm pretty tired so I completely missed the description on the page. Nothing to see here folks.
