Don't know the power output on them but I wonder if it would be possible to control your AV equipment, which would be a heck of a lot more useful then the gimmicky function of waving your hand over to wake.
By the way the current Moto X will wake with a wave of the hand using the proximity sensor without all that extra IR hardware and software they had to invest in.
