Is Foxfi working for those who are using the Verizon variant?

Verizon charges for a tethered account. If you try tethering and you don't pay for it, Verizon just "drops" the packets (that device isn't connected to the internet). Most carriers are starting to do that now.

That would make sense if Foxfi quit working on my wife's S7 edge. It still works for her. I've seen a couple of threads where hotspot is no longer working for the Note 7. I wonder what VZW is doing to block it?
