Free 100gb of Onedrive Cloud storage?

My S6 Edge did not come with a Microsoft folder or one drive at all. I am on Verizon.

Let me guess, there are paid options installed in their place?

AT&T put their crappy "AT&T locker" app on which comes with only 5GB of space, instead of 115GB that OneDrive Would've come with.

I spent time with the Samsung rep at Best Buy. She had no idea why I was not getting the storage. She thought it must be related to me having a onedrive account already and it linked to my hotmail when my phone is linked to my gmail. She started an online service chat with Microsoft. They gave me a claim number and a phone call, then after 20 minutes connected me directly to Samsung (didn't even know that they could do that) who after 25 minutes connected me directly to AT&T where the customer service rep had no idea what I was even talking about. Only promotion she knew of expired last month and it was for bing rewards members. Very frustrating. Not surprising. Trouble is that I had a long debate about whether to go with AT&T or not, and now regret this decision. They did something similar a few years back... details are lost with me though.

Yeah it sounds like some higher up at AT&T made the choice last minute for what ever reason and nobody any where knows anything.

It's really frustrating. I will not forget this when my contracts with AT&T are up and it's time to chose to stay with AT&T or pick a new carrier.

If they wanna add more bloatware, fine, But don't remove features from a phone!

Currently waiting for that call back still. They called me this morning, but still had no idea what was going on, so the AT&T rep let me go with the promise she'd call me back with more info. Apparently who ever wrote the ticket did not fill it out correctly.

Its typical of Verizon to not allow the freebies on the phones, they want to push the crap they offer. I will NEVER put anything on Verizon's cloud, ever.

T-Mobile seems to be the better carrier now. Too bad their coverage is not as good as AT&T at this time.

There was an article on BGR talking about the apps the US carriers were removing (can't post link because I don't have 10 posts here yet).

They said you can still download the OneDrive app from Google Play. Has anyone tried that and seen if you can still get the 100GB promo?

Yeah another reason why I left Big Red. Also, I don't know how Verizon and AT&T got around not having the Microsoft apps on the S6 and S6 edge. I thought it was part of the agreement that Samsung made with Microsoft to avoid getting sued for not paying the Android royalties.

I pretty much sync everything with my laptop either via tethering it or Bluetooth, but between Google drive, Dropbox, And AT&T Locker can she get close to 50 gigs of storage space? For free I mean? I know you have to sign up for each one but all my laptop my sister and I share things in dropbox all the time, and I backup many pictures for free in Google Drive. Now if I want a backup 30 movies, I'm stuck. But for pictures and swapping things out most of the stuff that is free worked for me. 100 gigs would be nice to have and I'm sure cloud space will come down in price, but for right now Google Drive and Dropbox work great.

So I have found a fix to get the 100 GB cloud storage for AT&T and Verizon phones and it's simple to do.

So go to a Retailer ex: Best Buy, Tmobile, Sprint so on (just not AT&T and Verizon) or if you have a friend with an S6 that's not AT&T or Verizon this will also work.

In my case I was at sprint visiting a friend when I had tried this.

So anyways all you have to do is use there display model to log into your one drive account it'll right away prompt you to claim 100gb of storage log out and that's it if you look at your account you'll have your storage. On my account. I now have 130GB of Storage so I think It gave me an extra 15 since I had logged in from another phone.

Also to note I have the S6 with AT&T

Thanks for posting this. I went to Best Buy today and used their Sprint S6 edge floor model. I logged into OneDrive with my account and had 100gb added to the 30gb I already had. I logged off their model and as soon as I logged in with my phone, I had 130gb of storage. This seems to be the only way to get the 100gb of storage of At&t.

Why do they continue to do things like this? I wish we as Verizon users could get together and pressure them into not doing this.

Thanks igneel64, I will definitely be trying your workaround.

I too went to Best Buy, signed into my account and got the 100GB free storage. When i was done, I found there was no way to sign out of the app! Restarting the phone, clearing data and cache for OneDrive did nothing. It could not be uninstalled (on this demo phone) so I disabled it. When I got home, I was able to change my password using a computer. I'm still miffed that my email address is stuck on this phone as I use it for login ID to OneDrive. Oh well, at least I got my 100GBs.
