Free GPS kit from Asus

just signed up and I dont see anything about the GPS dongle.

FYI, you can't register your device in chrome for some reason. I changed to IE and just typing in the serial entered all the other info automatically.

I successfully registered using Chrome

Gotta watch mistaking 0's for O's or Q's, and I's for 1's when entering your sn. i had fits until I got it right. That said, I haven't seen the dongle form either.

I already suggested that, that wasn't their issue. They are going to contact Asus.

How do i request for the GPS kit thing? Can't find it anywhere.

We are still working on a solution. Someone has contacted Asus and is waiting for a reply. I may do so in a couple of days as well, if no one hears back. I'd at least like to know what is going on with it, whether it's legit or not.

Worked fine for me too (in chrome). As soon as I registered my prime, I was taken to a page to verify my address for the GPS dongle.

This makes me think that maybe it was a problem with certain batches. But, hopefully someone will hear back from Asus soon.

Looks like they will start sign ups for the kit on the 16th.

UPDATE: ASUS has confirmed to All Things D that it plans to offer Transformer Prime users a kit in response to the GPS issues that some folks have encountered. Owners of the Transformer Prime will be able to sign up for a kit when ASUS officially announces its plans on April 16th, and the company says that shipping will take around two weeks.

Great, thanks for the link. I wont worry about it until the 16th then. :D

I tried registering both my Prime and the keyboard dock, and neither worked. I was using Firefox, so I'll try with IE and see if that works.

I do have to ask, does anyone think the 'location purchased' info weighs in at all? I won mine from here, so if it does, I'll have to email Phil and ask so I can get this little 'dongle' thing.

I mean, maybe because it's a second hand item. But, if no one has registered it before, I don't think they are going to know that you didn't purchase it. Even if they did, you'd probably still be entitled to it, since know one could have already received the item.

Would the GPS kit require a USB port? because I only have the tablet itself. I don't have the keyboard dock. I wish it did tho, but i dont have the money for it :( Got the transformer prime for my bday :D

What I've read so far says that the GPS kit plugs into the docking port, so it's perhaps better that you don't have the keyboard dock.

I hope this is not the case. Hopefully they will have options to cover people both with and without the dock.

I emailed Asus. They never heard of the thing.

Seems like there is a bit too much information out there for it to not be legit. Could be that it was someone not privy to that information until after it launches. If you have the ability to reply, you could try and send them some of the links in this thread and see what they say. They might go ask someone with more knowledge.

Or you can wait until April 16th when it's supposed to become official, that's what I'm doing. If I don't hear anything that week, I'll be emailing Asus myself.

Awesome. Thanks for the headsup. It's good to know I don't need to do anything else. An email would have been nice from Asus letting people that have registered know. Oh well.
