This isn't about google wallet specifically, this is about verizon blocking a service that competes with a service they offer. Rumor has it verizon is working on their own netflix competitor, what if verizon blocked netflix on their network to increase adoption of their service. Not saying it will happen, but the principle of the matter is the same.

Isn't this news REALLY old? I remember that this was first brought up when Verizon forced Google to start blocking apps that allow free wifi tethering, and since then there have been several phones released. I highly doubt that this is the reason for the delay.

Microsoft paid the price for manipulating software that can be loaded. Verizon will pay that price as well. Could you imagine having to buy your laptop from Verizon and they control what software you get and that it cannot be removed. Right now they (wireless companies) are monopolizing software and hardware and consumers have no choice. That is not free market.

Actually, it is free market. If enough people wanted it, a carrier would offer a phone with no bloat and the ability to run apps. But, enough customers aren't, so their business model is fine.

You are talking about Government imposed regulations dictating "equality".

but if this was potentially a big delaying type of issue, why has the carrier shipped so many phones (supposedly) to its stores???
