Is this a deal because I got the note 8? I've been paying 1.99 per month for Google drive storage but if I get free Unlimited photos I don't want to pay but I can't quite figure out how to activate it.

Google Photos has a free upload built into the app. As long as you leave the quality set to default, all pictures uploaded don't count against your Drive storage.

I'm not aware of any offer like that for the Note 8. I do believe that is an offer for the Pixel though. Do you have a Pixel phone tied to the same email addy? That could be why you're getting that notification.

That's probably a better answer than mine. Lol. I've never seen that notification though...probably because I have sync turned off for Photos and I think I turned off notifications for that app as well.

It might be the one that goes off when you first open the app.

I remember seeing that offer on my Note 8 but I don't use the Google Photos app. I use the Samsung Gallery app.

What does the fine print on this offer say? Google probably screws you out of your copyrights. Probably something in there about them getting to use your pics for free.

Go to Backup & Sync on photos and choose High Quality. That's set by default in any case. That'll give you unlimited storage.

Unless I'm mistaken any phone can have unlimited photo back up with default quality. Issue is it compresses and reduces the overall size and quality of the image. I don't use it because I want to maintain the original quality of the photos.

Personally I don't rely on cloud for photos, I have it set to back up at max quality which uses my drive storage, but delete them monthly as I move the files from my phone to my PC, then duplicate them on 2 external hard drives that I store in 2 different locations.

May I ask, if I had already set it at Free Unlimited High Quality, does any know what is the resolution it is saving it as?

Also if I switch over to Original Quality that uses up the storage space, will ALL of my pics become original quality? Or how do I upload it back to original quality?

Thanks in advance.

I think if you shift to Original, it won't change what you already uploaded. But don't hold me to that. I can very well be wrong.
