Free wifi hotspot with root?

Is there a way to get free wick hotpot functionality when rooted?

This isn't the only way but it works great for me.

It has in the settings a list of profiles for different phones. The bionic is in that list.

I saw a couple threads about vzw cracking down on this, anyone know if this is true? Can they even tell if we're tethering?

Yep they know about it and when you are converting your 3g to hotspots. I've seen it and know it to be true. my buddy gets shut down all the time while he is playing Xbox live. They know when you flash a rom too. I think it shouldn't matter because Verizon is a multi billion dollar corporation. Unfortunately we line in America where nothings free and souls are littered with greed.
