Freezing problems on Samsung Galaxy S3

I had the same problem, the only thing that fixed it was having the motherboard replaced. Re flashing the software did nothing.

Had this same problem, freezing circa 20-30 times a day. Used Odin yesterday to upgrade firmware to latest version-XXEBM1 and no freezes at all since. Happy days

Guys, I'm facing the same problem as all of you, but I have a down side: I don't understand ANYTHING about phone tech. I know it's very stupid of me, but I don't understand almost anything you guys said here. Sorry.
My phone locks every 3, 4 minutes. If I let go of it, kinda stays alive for a while, but if I try to touch it, it freezes.
I already deleted almost every single app I had on it. Cleared caches of all the remaining apps. And that's as far as my understanding goes.
Can anyone, please, give me a step-by-step tutorial teaching me how to fix it? - if anyone knows how to, obviously.
Sorry to be a burden. I really don't want to replace my S3.
I really appreciate your time and attention.

Thank you, Danistop.
It'll take 1 hour for my download to complete (weird, my computer is brand new and my connection is great - and on the video, his download took 1 second haha). As soon as the download is complete, I'll let you guys know if it worked.
Thank you so much. Let's hope for the best. :)

Don't know. The only apple product that I bought was an iPhone. That was a first and last product from apple.

Oh man that sucks. Do you know if there's any other "program" like Odin out there so I can see if it might have a Mac version?
I'm sorry for being such a pain.

Let me get this straight. It took one hour just to download the Odin and the firmware? I thought you are already installing the firmware and takes you 1 hour. Do you have a friend or a neighbour with a normal computer (something that has nothing to do with apple)?

I deleted all application cache in the way you describe. My S3 has been working fine for at least 16 hours with no blocking condition. I will update any bad news, so I recommed to try this recipe. Thanks meyerweb #109
Update: sorry guys, after 24 hours the frezzing problem has returned.

Hi everyone, i have the same problem, my phone has no more than 6 months with me, and the first issue that i had was that the external sd card slowly died, until now it's unreadable in any device i try it, but well i though, ok just buy another one of better quality, but recently no more than a couple of months ago, this little sucker has been jamming so much that today the only way to use it again is to take out thw battery, i'd been checking all the features and found something really interesting, it's very intriging so i will just add the printscreen so you can check it out, maybe it has something to do with the jamming, by the way this screen was taken just after i cleared all my photo and video folders, hope someone have some comments about this, i didnt do anything to the phone, not routing not anything strange.

I have the same problem , it begins ( as i think ) 3 weeks ago , i had no problem with my phone before.
I factory reset meny times and nothing work, sometimes i found my phone restarting all by it self :(
I have the international version. Did anyone found answer for this?

If you (any of you) have tried the other steps suggested in this thread before post 131. ALL of them, and nothing has worked, I'd try a factory reset.

Trying to download and flash a new ROM really shouldn't be necessary, and I'd only try that if a factory reset doesn't work.

Hi...

from last i week i facing problem with my Samsung S3 some times phone is getting hanged screen get freezed or it gets off too. tired all trouble shooting as said in the thread.

1. Reset the phone to factory default still the same issue

2. tired to run in safe mode after running the same still issue.

need your help .....

One question: Does this happen only when you're connected to WiFi, or all the time? I recall seeing one report where freezing on WiFi was solved by rebooting the router. If that's not it, and it's continuing to freeze up after a factory reset, and in safe-mode, it really seems like a hardware issue. Go back to where you bought it, or contact Samsung for warranty repair.

Dani, you're posting your firmware fix in every forum you can find. I still suspect that your problem didn't require new firmware to fix, you just didn't find what was causing it, and flashing new firmware wiped out everything, including what was causing the problem.

But I'm glad it worked for you. Try to understand that not everyone has the same problem you did, and not every problem will be fixed by the same method.

BTW, you spelled my name wrong.

Did not read through the whole thread; Only this page. So if the following has been attempted, in diagnosing the issue forgive me. I see on this page mention of factory resetting, and the problem persisting. Did any of you perhaps try the phone without the SD card in for a few days? Sometimes a corrupted file on the SD card will cause the issues described here.

Believe me I've already tried all your other methods (factory reset, take the battery out, put it in switch off the wireless, sd card out, put the phone in the oven and freezer) and none of them worked. I only posted in here hopping that it will help you guys as it helped me. Isn't that the point to wipe out the problem? .... But hey... Your the specialist...but it seemed to me that none of your methods seemed to work for nobody. The perfect method is to change the hardware (motherboard). Isn't this method changing the firmware as well? Sorry to bother you with my nonsense. This will be my last post. Peace out....
