Freezing & unresponsive

Yeah there was some serious stuff going on with the battery drain with mine as well. Now it seems to be fixed. Funny story is I put it one night on Energy Save Mode and woke up next morning to find it minus 20%. Now I leave it as is on Regular Mode and during the night it drops like 3% which is normal I guess.

No freezing after the update. I use both home button and side button to check it and it runs perfectly. I guess Samsung really did something to solve the issue.

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to let you know I've been playing with some settings to see if I could get rid of or shorten the freeze.
I honestly don't remember everything I tried but I focused on two things:

1) the finger print scanner: I was thinking it might be slow to wake up or something > I added the same two fingers several times so there would be an easier match

2) I deleted widgets from my lock screen, thinking the loading of the weather widget might slow down the phone while waking up to the lock screen as well.

I think these were the two most important things I did. I have not received the update yet. Aaaaand..... I have less freezes. In the last week I've only had one, I think. And it was much shorter than before. Might be a coincidence, might now. Who knows :) But you could try it for yourself. Do you have the weather widget activated on your lock screen?

I used to have the widget on my lockscreen and read somewhere that it may be the cause - so i took it off about a week ago. Still no dice. I always figured it was the fingerprint login that causes this but I read somewhere on this forum that folks with pattern unlock also have the same issue.

Sad part is that I thought the update from yesterday would fix this annoying little bug.

I haven't even enabled the fingerprint scanner and I get the freeze.

I was still in my return period and even with the update freezing, the Good guys at Expansys are letting me pay the difference and get a silver g9287 and offered free upgraded shipping back to me so my was sent back today.:-)

and what makes you think the silver one won't have the same issue? Give it 72 hours and it'll surely start to lag / freeze

I think it's because judging by the relevant threads on this subject, there hasn't been any reports of the G9287 experiencing this freeze problem. Mostly the culprits are G928C and G928F models. I for one was using a silver G9287 before I swapped out for a gold G928C and gave the silver to my partner. Only the gold one experiences the issue, the silver is still rock solid.

I'm confident there will be a software fix for this in the future because there are no differences between these models except for firmware versions.

That is why I am getting the g9287 because I hear the g928c is the one with the issues. if they had it in white I would totally be getting a white one but Iam going to settle for now for the silver.

I haven't even enabled the fingerprint scanner and I get the freeze.

So we've established it's not related to the fingerprint reader. At least that's something. Funny thing I haven't had it happen to me in nearly a week now.

same here, after it happened that one time, it didn't happen again. So I guess this firmware update really improved things

I wonder if this un responsiveness is related to my other issue I've created a new thread for. I've seen a few times now.

That happened to me a few times before seems like its related to this whole wake from sleep issue.

Now it's been 4 days and I haven't had any freezes, Maybe it's the firmware update or maybe it's the myriad of apps that got updated recently which include Facebook, OneDrive, Twitter, Textra, etc.

Who knows maybe one of the apps was causing this issue? because the problem is gone now

Also note that I set all apps to Auto Optimize always in the battery options so maybe that helped as well since they are all in like sleep mode until I access them? This is one big riddle man but I'm glad somehow I got rid of it I was so close to selling this phone although I didn't want to because there is no other phone at the moment that interests me. I am waiting for the BlackBerry PRIV bra as it gives me the convenience of a keyboard, a larger batter 3400 mAH and Android. what do you think?

Got a software update this morning and have this new auto optimise apps part as well. Let's see how this goes. 24 hrs later its still going well.

Matrix Leader I'm just wondering, if you have your apps to auto optimise always in your battery settings how is your battery life?
I've had to turn that setting off because on mine it was at the default setting of auto optimise after 3 days of no use on most of my apps and it was killing my battery

I used to charge my phone 3 times a day and I barely even use it man. After doing this, I charge it once every 24 hours and by the end of the 24 hours I still have 20% available.

The battery optimize default setting is optimize after 3 days of the app being idle is useless, set each app to ALWAYS optimize then you will see a night and day difference.

Set all apps to auto optimize then fully charge your phone and enjoy
