Frequent Freezing

It has been documented (with empirical data only) that task killers, virus protection, various keyboard apps and others have caused or contributed to FC's. On my phone the only FC issue I've had was traced to Swype and Launcher 2.1 not playing well together. I could close either and the phone was fine, but if they were both being used I would get FC's. You just have to experiment with the apps you've loaded and use regularly and find the culprit(s).

I had the same issue.. swype had no love for the launcher whatsoever.. had to het rid of the launcher...

too bad to hear that swype was causing problems... could you elaborate flyguide? what do you mean "launcher"? i'm using swype and love it - but my camera sucks, FC almost every time. Related to swype? I don't see how

I've had this happen a few times. not frequently though. Actually doing a ctrl-alt-delete on the physical keyboard will often reboot the device without having to pull the battery. Though sometimes, that doesn't do it either.

I always forget about the keyboard to reboot - good reminder. I haven't opened the keyboard in a month

My phone also has frozen on me like 5x. It has only frozen on me when the screen times out though. The screen will stay black and none of the buttons will turn it back on. Id have to pull the battery to make it work again.

My phone also freezes but I blame it on the CPU over clock since it has really happened since but if I wait long enough like 5 mins it will finally just reboot itself happens about every 3 days which is less then my storm did so I really dont mind. If it gets to bothering me ill just restore my phone to the backup I made of it before hand.

I hate to diss on great devs but the force freezes were happening with EStrongs Task Killer. I uninstalled and chose Advanced Task Killer (I'm sure others would be fine as well) and the freezing stopped. I don't know how its related but it worked. I'd suggest trying that.

I think my Droid has done this maybe 2 or 3 times since I picked it up on release day. I have TaskPanel & have since the beginning... although it's had a BUNCH of updates, so who knows.

No freezing here. Never had to pull the battery. Judging from the comments here, I'd put the blame squarely on misbehaving apps.

.................

Thought it was widely known that on the motorola Droid no battery pull is needed...... Just hold Left alt key, left shift key and top right delete key all at one time and this will reboot the phone.

Ok, I wish people would stop saying because its a Droid no battery pull is necessary. My droid froze just yesterday. I was working on changing some messaging settings when, an incoming call came in at the same time. The phone was ringing however, the screen never displayed the caller ID then, the screen went dark and was unresponsive. I waited several minutes thinking the phone would correct itself, but never did. The Power button, Screen AND Keypad were unresponsive leaving no other option other than pull the battery which is a pain since I have a Body Glove case on the thing.

ive had this problem about 6 times
but this is still far better then when i had the blackberry storm

I've had my Droid 3 for about 2 weeks, and ever since it came out of the box it has frozen. I've been doing the battery pull daily 3-4 times. I can recall 2 days where a battery pull hasn't been necessary.

I don't have fancy apps on it either. I've downloaded Facebook, a camera app, Google+, and a game. Everything else on it is original. So I'm wondering if I shouldn't just do a warranty exchange or what. What are your guys' thoughts?
