so loaded FRG01 onto my droid last night and all hell broke loose - boot droid screen kept repeating.
Now I have the battery indicator is Red with a Slash going through it.
The phone is in bad shape - what is the answer?

and do i go to the VZ store and ask them for a new battery?

any help is appreciated.

What kernel did you add seems like you flashed a 2.1 kernel do a nandroid restore or download a 2.2 kernel

Go back to stock.

This is what happens with custom ROMS. Some are good some are not, and sometimes you just muck it up with a good rom.

The only way to make sure you keep your phone running properly is to run stock only.

But we all know thats no fun.

This is not a custom rom. This is the leaked official build foe the droid. Trust me its user error how do I know because I'm currently running it ad I've done this. The one thing is to never say hey should I return my Droid that I messed up back to vzw their are so many ways to fix a Droid. Their are multiple sbfs out their that will fix almost anything that you do to your Droid

so now i can't even open it up in recovery - went to VZ, sans me telling them of my froyo spill, they tell me 'that the phone is defective and not recognizing the battery;' immediately ordering me a new droid to be delivered tomorrow.

now - if i can get this first droid to work, perhaps i can sell the second on ebay or something..

Perhaps VZW will charge you full price for the replacement if you don't send the "defective" unit back.

They give you something to send the defective droid in. So no you don't get to keep and sell the original if you get it working.

And if you don't send it back they charge you FULL price ($600) to your bill for the new unit.

Dud you ever try and sbd the phone back to 2.1 or anything my whole things is its a bad idea to just take a phone in rather than figuring out what's wrong with it. Point 2 ie don't root and do all this fun stuff without the patients to atleast read and figure out how to get your phone up and running again. This is primarily the reason why Motorola looks bad at people doing this. I mess up my phone ohh well just give it back. Google is your best friend so is search many people have run into this and its as simple as downloading red light the 2.1 sbf. Hooking your phone up to the computer power it on while holding up on the dpad and running a program don't mean to sound like a **** but don't root if you don't want to figure out how to fix stuff . You go to Verizon as a last resort after you've tried the sbf etc and its still their well then its hardware

+1000000

The best way to learn is to break it and then fix it. When doing stuff like this, things will go wrong, if you don't or can't figure out how to fix it, you shouldn't be rooting and loading different ROMs.

no i hear you, and you don't sound like a **** - my concern was that the battery status icon was red with a / going through it and i could not find that remedy anywhere on google. i play the game, but that had me stumped.

Its probably because your battery is dead. It usually does that on my phone right before it shuts down because of low battery.
