From 4.4.2 KitKat to Lollipop?

I have had my Note 3 bugging me to update for a while. I was hoping to find out from reddit if you guys think I should update to Lollipop, or if I should just keep telling it to no?

I'm in Canada. My carrier is wind.
So far a it's telling me is its upgrading me to Lollipop. I don't know if it's gonna offer more updates past that.

What do I back up with? I'm not all that good with Android software tinkering. But point me to an app/program and I'll figure out how to backup.

5.1.x fixed the memory leak. 5.0.x has bad memory leak.
