I had bookmarks saved on my google account from phone1 which i sucessfully downloaded though google takeout. deleted all the bookmarks from the google account account from dashboard, now it shows 0 bookmarks. went to phone2 where i have never login to google account chome, never synced bookmarks. An update has come so updated it. Now i went to sync phone2 chrome bookmarks to my google account which were locally saved. Opened to sync but saw only 3 bookmarked synced. Log out log in still only 3 bookmarks. Went to check bookmarks saved locally and now it says 0 bookmarks.

Point to be noted i checked chrome file size overall displays less than usual. Even my phone memory storage increased by 1.5-2GB which i assume confirms deletion.

I believe my mistake was to not to wait for longer to let the deletion from google account complete (even though it showed 0 booksmarks) I waited for a probably 10-15 sec and logged in my phone2 and it deleted my phone2 bookmark along with it.

Welcome to Android Central! Do you still have the Takeout file with the bookmarks? Did you import them in the first place as described here? https://support.google.com/chrome/answer/96816?hl=en
attached reddit post discussion explains it well my issue. No i do not have takeout as i have deleted it from the account and because at the time of deletion my phone was in sync it automatically deleted from my phone storage too.

I'm afraid there's nothing else I can suggest if you deleted the backup file. That would've been important to keep safe.

You could always contact a data recovery service and ask if what you want done is even possible. If it were, it would probably cost quite a lot of money -- in the hundreds of dollars range.

Could you tell where chrome bookmarks are saved in the phone internal memory? I might ask them to target specific directory. I doubt it saved in data/com.android.chrome as i have 5 bookmarks now and it doesn't show anything in that folder.
i am comfortable with the paying as long as data can be recovered.

Thanks for your effort but older android os paths does not match with the newer one. The recent bookmarks are nowhere to be found on he path post mentioned. Google search does not tell where bookmarks are saved now, all discussions are old. Please do tell if you could you encounter something else, later.
Including the phone make, model and OS version would be helpful then.

Oppo F9pro, android 10. I tried x-plore file manager "show all hidden", "superuser" which does show system files without root but i cant find data/com.android.chrome/ bookmark of any kind but rooting might penetrate deeper as it shows some folder with access denied written under it but do bookmarks saved that deep? I tried searching bookmarks by search feature but could not find chrome bookmark path.
I am surprise how less info is available regarding this.

Or run Shizuku with Mix Explorer or FV File Explorer instead of root. That way you can snoop without having to root which you didn't need in the past and will likely end up removing after anyway.
