From Incredible-> Fascinate-> Droid X : A Comparison Review.....

I too have the opportunity to use all of VZW's Android phones, and I still come back to the X.

Although the size may turn people off at first...and that is a big 'may'. I don't think most people really realize how much you do anymore on a smart phone that IS NOT talking on the phone.

If you use apps, and I would suspect most people do, the size is nice. Emails..again real nice to not squint. Any type of RDP or VNC..the size is almost a must. Same with web browsing..maps and on and on..

So although a nice compact "phone" may seem nice, in reality, I think, the size will become more common than we think.

Kind of ironic isn't it?? Those of us who have used phones for a decade or so now remember the monster phones. We couldn't wait to get a slim compact design...

Now that we achieved that we almost realize it got too small, and we need it a little bigger..... X

I'm glad you wrote this review. I'm due for my NE2 the middle of this month and was going back and forth between the Fascinate and the Droid X. I started out leaning towards the Fascinate, just because of the nice screen and the way it fit in my hand. I've been studying threads on AC here and researching on the internet, reading reviews on both. Played with both in stores.
Now after reading all the problems with the Fascinate (Bing, Call quality, GPS issues), I'm leaning towards the Droid X. The size was a big issue for me at first, but after playing with it in VZW stores, it's not as big as I thought at first. I really like the look and feel of the Fascinate, I was actually considering getting one and then returning it for a Droid X if I had problems with it in the first 30 days. The main reasons I'm choosing the Droid X are the top uses for my phone:
1. Phone first=Call quality
2. GPS - Use VZ navigator alot on my LG Dare, never had problems with it
3. I'm a Google Person, Bing just doesn't do it

I know there are workarounds for the Fascinate for the stuff I listed above, but honestly, why do all the extra work when I don't have to deal with those issues on the Droid X.
Froyo 2.2 bugs kind of scare me on the X, but hopefully when I get mine, they will not be an issue. The only other issue that may scare me is the problem with the Ringtones/speaker Volume being low on the X. If I can't hear the phone ring in my pocket and miss calls that can be a problem.
I may wait til next month to get the X (waiting for the end of next billing cycle), but can't wait to get one. It'll be my first Smartphone and have learned so much from everyone on the Forums here. Thanks for the Review, very helpful.
PS. last question: I thought I read somewhere on the Droid X forum that it'll be at the end of it's life in March 2011? Does that mean you can't get one after that or they stop making them?
