From Note II to OPG ? Is it worth it?

This phone has excellent call quality (wife says I sound 10x better than I sounded using iPhone 5).
Excellent screen, incredible battery life, no lag at all, better reception than my iPhone 5 as well. Needless to say, my wife now wants this phone as well after playing around on mine.

I just wanted to corroborate this statement by saying this has been my exact same experience with the Optimus G (making this post from it now using Chrome and SwiftKey Flow).

This is easily the most underrated Android handset out right now.

Current Note 2 owner here.
I was in the AT&T store checking out the S4 today and saw the OGP wow, what an impressive screen.
I didn't realize how much nicer and sharper the screen was compared to the Note II.
Other than that, I am not sure if it would be a worthwhile upgrade for me.
So what is there about the OGP that makes it much better than the Note II ?
And should I get it or wait till the Note 3?

I went from the Note II to the OG pro, the #1 factor for me was the slightly smaller width of the OG Pro making one hand use much easier unlike with my Note II. I never really used the S-Pen on my Note II so that was a non issue, battery life on the OG pro has been somewhat comparable to the Note II although I feel like the Note II may have a leg up in this area. Screen on the OG Pro looks really nice, camera does a decent job, UI on the OG Pro is smooth although there is still room for improvement. Everything considered I am happy with the OG Pro and don't miss my Note II

Do you really think that you will use the pen? Because many have bought the Note thinking that they were going to use the pen and end up not using it much at all.

On the contrary, many like myself, use the pen all the time and consider its absence a significant disadvantage versus the Note 2. Remember the "pen" is not merely your typical pen but a very creative and useful tool designed to work with specific software on the phone. If for nothing else, I use the pen a lot to hit small links that my finger would otherwise have trouble touching accurately. This eliminates the need to zoom all the time, which can become utterly annoying. I think the inclusion and consistent evolution of the "pen" will guarantee that Samsung maintains an advantage over copycat competitors with similar offerings, other specs aside.

I agree. I am scheming to procure one right now, off contract, without paying full price. If nothing else, the screen blows that of the Galaxy Note 2 away.

I went to look at the LG today, and the only issue i'm seeming to have is that it gives me options to write notes and things like the Note 2, BUT it doesn't give me a pen to do it with, it just feels weird to me, trying to take notes without a pen......Does anyone know if it works with other touch pens?????

If by "pen" you mean "stylus", then yes - it will work with any stylus you care to use as long as you see the word "capacitative" in the product description. S-Pen from what I understand has special features on the GN2 (I've never owned one, so I don't know what they are), but if you want something that feels like a pen but "writes" on a phone screen, there are tons of them available from many outlets at various prices and various levels of quality. Mine has an ink pen built in and a laser pointer on the back, so it's really useful at work.

You can even get conductive thread and turn your favorite gloves into a capacitative stylus with a few quick stitches. :)

What I thought was funny coming from the GS3 and going to the Note 2 was that the resolution was the same. For the home screen it really seemed stupid IMO. I'm not blind. I didn't get the Note 2 because I needed bigger icons. That was fixed by changing the LCD density (required root).

However, I am using the Optimus G Pro on a daily basis now. No need to buy a QI receiver for wireless charging or change the LCD density. The screen seems to be a little sensitive to me, and I know I've mentioned this elsewhere. I use Swiftkey and can type a little better on other devices vs this one. I think over time that I will learn to do a better job. Not a deal breaker.

If you actually use pen with the Note 2, go get yourself an Incipio stylus or something. I had to go out of my way to use the Note 2 stylus.

Yup, yup, i think "spending a few minutes with it" is what sells the LG Pro for sure.

On paper, (with all the great phones available these past few months) its almost like, '"1920 x1080, 2GB ram, 1.7 Quad....big whoop", but you pick it up and spend just a few minutes flipping thru the screens, seeing how beautifully LG has improved their UI, the fluidity, and before long you are like, "ok, what have i got to do to take you home with me?!"

One more question.
For those that have had a Samsung phone with the Back and Menu button opposite to whats on the OGP, do you get use to the new arrangement?

I got mine on May 9th and I still get them mixed up.... I've had Samsung phones for the past 4 yrs so it's a habit pretty much... but it's not a big issue to me...

believe it or not, i never hit the back menu when i meant to hit the menu or vice versa, very strange that i never do, too, because nobody on the entire planet is more of a creature of habit than i am. But for some reason, even with being a Samsung Vibrant, Galaxy S II, Galaxy Epic 4G touch, Galaxy S3, Galaxy S 4 (for one week: )Note i & Note 2 not to mention my Galaxy 7.0 Tab Plus (which i still use daily and love : ) owner, (oh & l'est i forget the Samsung Exhibit II i use alongside my LG O Pro for thoose times i need to use a phone ::::quickly::::: , so i constantly go back & forth between the 2 diff button arrangement) but : ), i took to the reverse button configuration like, "a fish to water"...lol

(and yes i realize that up till now i was prolly's Sammy's biggest fan, but LG just soooooo nailed it with the LG O Pro, i just had to abandon the brand this trip : )

Takes about one day to get used to new arrangement.

I have to admit that i like the "OmG comments" or "Goldly Locks Factor" - from friends and family.
they start off saying that the phones to Large, way to Big for them. - then you place it in there hands and they flip thru the screens and test the speed, they feel how light weight it is. there eyes light up, and then they ask you if it is the Note, you explain the SPECS of the G PRO and where They can get it.
then with a smile they want it and say its just right...lol
is it only me or has any one else experienced this?

Just today, I had a co-worker that I was showing it off to. He took it and said, "this thing is ridiculously huge! I can't imagine having a phone like this!" and about 30 seconds later after doing just a couple of things with it he was pondering it for his next phone. It's by no means a small phone, but LG put a crapload of work into making a comfortable behemoth of a phone, not just a behemoth of a phone for the sake of making it big.

I also know two Note II users who are just about ready to ditch the Note II for this, but want to see what the Note III brings. I think they'll go OGP. Don't get me wrong, the Note II is a great phone and I'm sure the III will be fantastic, and the battery life beats the OGP all hollow, but I tried one and it felt a skosh big even for my very big meaty paws.

I'm telling you: the longer you have the OGP, the better the battery is becoming.

I was with some friends in the park taking pictures, and once took the Lg Pro out and everyone wanted to use it to take there photos. i became the official photographer of the group, even though they have I phones, Galaxy S2's and HTC's - everyone wanted me take there photos with the Lg PRO. and then message then the pictures. this is the Sleeper Phone of 2013!

I ended up going with the Note 2 for two reasons: Samsung is better at providing software updates than LG, and it's easier to find accessories for the Note 2. Having said that the OG Pro's screen is absolutely amazing and having 32GB of internal storage is awesome. I think it just depends on what is most important to you, both phones are awesome.

I had the note 2 and it was a good phone. I had experienced some minor issues with it. I got the ogp now and love it. No problems what's so ever and it has not failed to meet any of my expectations. Only down side is lack of higher end cases.

U won't be disappointed.

from what ever phone I feel like using today
