Hi, I am new to the androidcentral forum but I have been a member of the precentral for 2 years now. got my original pre on launch day with Sprint and stuck with it until now. I have waited patiently for 2years to get an upgrade for my WebOS phone. This week I finally broke down and decided to give android a go and got myself a Nexus S.
It was a very difficult transition and the last 4days have been quite painful (WebOS withdrawl is tough) but I am starting to like the Nexus S and have started installing some cool apps.
Here is what I got so far in alphabetical order
Amazon Kindle
Amazon MP3 (fav)
AppStore(fav)
Astrid Tasks - Any other suggestions are welcome (Free or Paid)
Barcode Scanner (Haven't used it yet)
Battery Widget - Any other suggestions are welcome (Free or Paid)
Bing - (It may be blasphemy but I like bing)
CardioTrainer Pro(Thank you Amazon)
DirectTV
doubleTwist - Best music player
Engadget
Evernote
Facebook - Anyone signup for the beta?
Gaia GPS - It was free on Amazon
LinkedIn
Norton Utilities - decent but still looking for a good Firewall
Notepad Any other suggestions are welcome (Free or Paid)
Opera Mobile - Tabbed browsing is alright but I miss the multiple browser windows in WebOS
Pulse - Nice news caching
Slacker Radio - WebOS free version seems to have fewer restrictions than the android free version
Slide Notes
SoundHound - Much quicker than Shazaam
Sudoku Daily - great interface
Sudoku Free
The Weather Channel - Seems very unstable
Twidroyd
WordPress
World Series of Poker - Courtesy of Sprint
YooNinja AD Free - Thanks Amazon
Any recommendations for essential apps will be very welcome.
What is great:
1. 4inch screen is gorgeous - I love the extra screen real-estate and Super AMOLED is beautiful.
2. Very responsive
3. On screen key-board better than I expected
Issues so far:
1. Signal strength is very inconsistent
2. 4G connection is positively flaky (Tried in 2 different cities - was travelling
)
3. Camera is not for indoor/low-light - Better than my pre though
4 Battery life although better than my old phone still no where as good as my wife's iPhone
