Don't know if anyone has seen this or not ( I did a search and didn't see where anyone had posted this) but here's another former iphone user who has used an Evo for about a week now. His review is quite interesting and like what we've all read so far, the only thing he really "complained" about (I use that term loosely) is the battery life and the "crashing".

The HTC EVO is great

I tried to be comprehensive, including noting the crashes, because they were there and worth documenting. My iPhone is still around, but I am not using it. Should be interesting to see if WWDC promises anything good!

Thanks for reading and linking. ;)

Interesting, can't wait to use the device. I currently have an iPhone now and i'm not happy with it :| I pre-ordered my Evo 4G from BBY..I feel like i've waited years since i pre-ordered last week :P I'll take on the 30 Day trial and see how it goes as well! Thanks for your input.

Great review!

You mentioned that you used a task killer occasionally to close programs. I recall reading that you have to be careful with task killers because if not used properly they can lead to instabilities. I wonder if thats why you were getting crashes. But then again maybe not, I have not used Android yet (FRIDAY!!!) so maybe crashes are somewhat commonplace.

Also you mentioned that you had some trouble with saving pics/vids onto your sd card in some circumstances. This seems to be a problem with a lot of folks who are using the Google I/O gift phones, and I have heard that HTC is aware of it and it shouldn't be a problem with the final released version. I hope thats true.

Task killer is a must.. please just only kill 3rd party apps and you should have no issues.

Very fair review. The writer must not be auditioning for a gig with TechCrunch.

The comments are interesting as the frightened iZombies try to spin the rough edges as a sign they should cling to Apple's softly-padded, locked-down, walled garden.

One thing I learned about not having apps crashing on you is to read user reviews section before doing any type of update. Not only does it help with keeping a stable version but also to make sure the Dev didn't take out something you like. I don't have apps closing on my Hero at all.

I'm coming from the iphone, and have had the evo for about a week. I love the screen size and the multitasking. Battery life is not so great, and advanced task killer is a must if you want it to last more than a few hours. I have had the sd card problem, but I switched to the other card they gave out and have not had any problems with it yet.

Bottom line is that I will switch to android- but I don't think my wife is ready for it. So I may leave her on the iphone and get a galaxy or a streak to remain on at&t. The iphone os is definitely more polished at this point.

Iphone lovers will Adore Android. I've gone through BB OS, Apple OS and Android. Android by far (W/ it's early bugs) beat both for me.

That's a great objective review. One thing to note tho... is I'm guessing that many of his problems with apps crashing are due to the fact that he's using a task manager to kill apps. From what I've read this causes more problems than it helps.

At least in my case, not using a task killer would probably give me 4-6 hours tops before the battery is dead.

Louis, thanks for the review. I'm a current iPhone 3G owner and the Evo is the first phone that has tempted me away from the iPhone. At this point I'm leaning heavily in favor of the EVO. Part of is the big screen, flash compatible (somewhat now and fully with Andriod 2.2) and part of it is that I think ATT is starting to screw things up with tiered data service and dropped calls. iPhone 4G or HD or what ever is going to have to go a long way to win me back. I used to say that about an Android phone, but I think with EVO they may have done enough. I'm in contract with ATT until Sept 4th, so I'll get to see the next iPhone before I decide. I'll be doing the 30 day trial too to make sure that Sprint provides good voice and data service in my area. Actually I'm lucky to live in north Dallas since we do have some 4G coverage here. Thanks again for the review, for me it was the best one I've read so far.

I've resolved some of the conflicting program issues he has that causes crashes. And he may have the faulty SD card issue too. One of the problems you will all face is downloading 100's of apps, without looking at the ratings or reading the reviews. Take your time.........
