Front camera location?

I'm going around in circles trying to pick the tablet I want to buy. One of the big issues for me is getting files off a digital camera which is why the Thrive's full size SD card reader interests me. However, one of the things that bugs me about the Thrive is the location of the front facing camera and mic. They seem to be in a place that it would be really easy to cover with a finger/thumb if you were using it in landscape.

Does anyone else see that as an issue, or did your train yourself pretty quickly to use the FFC only in portrait mode?

Secondly, has anyone tried to connect a digital camera/DSLR via USB to see if you can copy files from the camera?

I have not tried the front facing camera yet but when I am using the tablet I don't often have a thumb covering either camera. I use the Swiftkey Tablet X beta keyboard app and to type with my thumbs on it my hand is lower on the side than might otherwise be using the stock keyboard. I love my Thrive!

Good luck!

I just went to the store and played with the Thrive and the Iconia. I think I've narrowed it down to these two... that could change in an instant. I like the feel of the Thrive in my hands and love the full size SD card slot, IPS display. I could see myself thumbing over the mic/camera for a bit, but I'm sure I could retrain myself. I'm leaning towards ordering the Thrive, but I wish I could find a better deal than $499 for the 32GB one.

All these tablets have a lot to offer and I was even considering the Lenovo Thinkpad that's coming out tomorrow, but the price on that is just too dang high.

I've had no probs with covering either cam with my fingers. The chrome piece is an automatic repellant to my thumb if it even barely touches it. :) And no, I've not tried connecting one of my digital cams with my Thrive---But if you purchase a Thrive and DO connect a cam to it, please post HERE and let us know whether it works! :)

I. Use a Canon sdlr and have no problem moving pics to tablet with either direct connect or using the card from camera in a multi card adapter. Thats the very reason I got the thrive. Oh and changeable battery help in the field.
