Front Facing Camera doesn't fill screen

Have had this phone for several weeks, I don't know if I just haven't noticed or some setting changed? The Front facing camera screen view is a small square, did I change something by accident?? When I hit the little multiple people icon, it changes the view, but I still don't get a full screen view.

As I was trying to upload it, I noticed it's saved as a PNG file, and some of my other pics have a "_FILM3.jpg" in the file name...could this have something to do with it?

The front facing flash is turned on. It uses the area of the screen around the viewfinder as a sort of flash.

Funny how something that was bugging me is now something I think is really great. I was bothered (and a little jealous) that my brother's iPhone 7 flashed a white screen as a flash, I was thinking it couldn't be THAT hard to incorporate this somehow into the software!

I think I'll keep it as well!!
