Front sensors

I set the alarm and ringer to mute when I waive my hand over the screen, but it doesn't work. Also when I approach the phone it's supposed to light up but only works when my hand is over the top sensor of the phone. What are the 2 bottom sensors for? I thought they were there for that.

I'm not sure what the algorithm used is, but I believe there are considerations for distance and number of sensors receiving input before the screen lights up. Requiring a certain number of sensors and the proximity will limit the number of false displays.

i can't get mine to work with the alarm but on a call it does. it looks like the farther away i wave the better.
