Froyo EB13 Pre-Rooted, Deodexed, with Clockwork - RFS & EXT4

Thanks for all your hard work guys.

Just wanted to know if I am going from stock rooted EB13 to the deodexed rooted ext4 version, will I be able to restore my apps using Titanuim BU or will the change in the OS cause problems.

quick quesiton ragnarok, when i click repartition, should i leave all the other options enabled as it is? ( auto reboot, F.reset time ) ? or only Repartition?

so in ODIN the Re-Partition has to be clicked "on" as well?? i didnt know that. so how does having it clicked on affect my flash vs not having it on? thanx.

Repartition hang time?

I've Odin'd many time successfully before, but this time - I've started Odin with Re-Partition and Auto-Reboot checked. Odin is stuck on Set Partition for 20+ mins now... digger still on phone.. no errors I can see... but how long should this take? I had DB28 ext4 on it to start. I'm pretty sure something is wrong... right? I'm just hesitant to disobey the strong "Do not turn off Target!!!" warning without some reassurance... If I do disconnect my phone at this stage, I can probably still Odin back again, right? Try again without repartition?

@jademan, yes if its sitting still doing nothing for more than 5 minutes then something has failed and you should be safe to remove and try again.

- Only tick the Auto Reboot option in Odin.

- You could try Odin without your sdcard in the phone

- You can also try removing your battery and plugging in and run the whole procedure without your battery. This has helped on some more stubborn phones.

Thank you very much for the quick reply!! Don't wanna get over affectionate but I'd hug ya for alleviating my nervous wait!

Did as suggested, with battery for first try, and all is going as planned presently.

EDIT: For the record, this Synidcate Frozen ROM is impressing me as much as it did when I put Syndicate 1.0.2 on my Epic for my first mod... what a difference! Thanks again!!

I just wanted to thank all you guys in this thread especially Ragnarok and Paul627g. I picked up my Epic tonight and immediately started reading and learning. Just finished rooting any phone for the first time and it couldn't have been easier due to the clear instructions here. Woot!

I made the change today from DK28/TER to EB13/ACE and it couldn't have been easier. No issues and it took all of about 5 minutes.

No reason not to root when it is this simple! Thanks to Paul627g and ragnarokx for making this so easy for an Android noob like myself.

uh seriously?

Ok I've done this process on two epics now, one of which was brand new. AND BOTH OF THEM HAVE BEEN BRICKED. WTF!?

Which version are you flashing, RFS of EXT4? If it is EXT4 did you remember to tick the repartition box?

Can you get the phone back into download to try again? Otherwise, hopefully this thread will get you back up and running again.

If you can get back into Download mode then your phone is not truly bricked. At best its a soft brick which is recoverable.

A few suggestions passed down by DroidXcon, one of our other Advisers we call the Odin specialist as of late.

1. Disable/Turn off any and all antivirus/spyware/malware programs.

2. Use the ports off the back of the computer these are usually directly off the motherboard for best power/connection. Also if your only option is using a laptop then make sure its plugged in to provide the best power available.

3. Try a different cable if available.

4. You can pull your battery out and leave it out of the phone, then plug in via cable to your computer and boot into Download mode and run the procedure.

5. Removing the sdcard in the past has helped too...

Seems like a lot, don't be intimated by all this its simply a bunch of different trouble shoots that have successfully gotten people threw the use of Odin.

EXT4, and yes I would click repartition. I would get the green success from ODIN, then the phone turns off... permanently. I've tried pulling the battery and replacing, pulling batt. and plugging in, plugging in while holding "1". Note: each time I used a different computer, a different epic, and a different copy of the download. The only time I ever saw the first one turn back on into download mode was when I plugged it in to a USB port that was wired incorrectly... But at that point the charging module was fried anyways and was beyond repair. Talk about momentary excitement followed by total let down.

BTW don't take my messages as anger towards you guys. I'm really freakin cranky cause I got accustomed to having FFVII in pocket at all times, and withdrawl is a *****. Also, I can only play stupid at the Sprint store so many times. Anyways, point being, you guys rock for doing what you do. Thanks.

I've been running this rom for a little more than a week now. Has anyone else had problems with text messages not being sent?

Twice now my texts weren't sent until I rebooted my phone. Then suddenly people were replying to messages I sent hours or even days ago. I asked them about it and they didn't get it until just then.

It happened a second time last night.

I've updated PRL and Profile. Hopefully that fixes it.

I have heard of this on stock Froyo EB13 but I haven't had any problems with this on any of the custom Froyo EB13 ROMs.

What I downloaded (Stock EB13 with Clockwork 2.5 and RFS) ends in ".rar". Is this the same as/similar to/interchangeable with ".tar"?

Yes it is still an archived file. Try running it in Odin as it is, if for some reason Odin doesn't recognize it then you may have to change the extension to .tar but it may not be necessary.

I want to ask, have you tried the longer more drawn out process of obtaining a deodexed EB13 then converting to EXT4? I know its more work but it is an alternative.

i wasn't sure what rom to use, but this one i think is all i need....stock eb13 plus the goodies you have included...

a few questions please....

- is there a significant increase in battery life?
- any chance of having the Carrier IQ removed in this rom in the future?

thanks very much :)
