No it shouldn't, but you should wipe the phone afterwards IMO.

Now couldn't you install this through the phone rather then through a program on the comp?

I am trying to update my girlfriends MT3GS and I downloaded HTC sync on the website but below is the link for the update and when I click it it brings me to the support page. anyone have a file they can send me/ alternative mirror/ ideas?

Every time I download the update it always says it's finished but the file is only 15mb. I've tried 5 times.

Froyo is terrible on this phone. Slowed it down tremendously
