Froyo install and issues cheat sheet?

The sticky has way to many pages to try and find a few answers. Easier to just post my newbie questions.

1 - Available OTA (Over the Air?) - Does that mean 3g/4g only or also if phone is connected wifi?

2 - people say to be patient with both the download and the install. Patient is relative to everyone. Is that 5 minutes and or hour?

3 - To do the install via the htc update section in settings , is there anything else I need to do?

4 - Anyone having a MAJOR issues? Bricking etc...I'm away on business, and really want flash, but don't want to risk totally messing up my phone

Too excited. I gave up waiting for responses. I started my upgrade (over wifi) so that answered one question.

1. you chose either (WiFi only) or (3g/4g and WiFi)

2. The download is right around 84.4MB so depending on your connection it'll take different amount of time. I did mine over WiFi and it took under 15 min.

3. No you just go to HTC software update and when it finished downloading it will ask if you want to update now. Click yes and your good to go

If you have swype installed you have to uninstall it and then use the swype installer to login, re-download and reinstall it. Then it works perfectly again.

4. No Bricking or major issue here with me yet. But I've only had it 12 or so hours, If you wanna make 100% sure that it wont (i wanted FroYo NOW so i took a little chance) i would wait a day or two... so more people have had time to update and find any problems

The android Market had an error the first couple times i tried to use it but i restarted my phone and it was fine after that. My girlfriend's market worked fine after the update. so i have to figure it was just a connection issue with my cheap WiFi router.

If you have swype installed you have to uninstall it and then use the swype installer to login, re-download and reinstall it. Then it works perfectly again.

My swype is still working fine after the update without having to uninstall it.

ok. I know i had to uninstall and reinstall it on mine and my girlfriends. you should have seen how pissed off she was when it didn't work after the update. LMAO

I just read the entire swype thread of people who had their swype "broken" when they downloaded froyo early. I didn't have any of those problems. I vaguely remember finding a link somewhere (either on this site or another) that took me to a different website with step-by-step instructions on how to install swype. I want to say the version number of the swype I installed seemed different than the one everyone else seemed to be using.

Anyway, my swype is still working, and I keep checking it because of all the problems others seem to be having. I don't know why swype doesn't just release a version to the market.

My camera didn't work after the install but I restarted and it works fine, now.
