Hi,
I'm a newbie and was wondering if the original Droid has or will be given any of the newer Android OS releases? What is the latest version that the original Droid should be on that Verizon has updated to and do you know if they plan any future updates (only regarding the original Droid)?

Thanks!

The OG Droids latest OS OTA update was 2.2.1, this is most likely going to be the last update it will recieve via VZW. Although, I'm already rocking gingerbread thanks to custom ROMs :)

Peter Alfonso just released his Gingerbread AOSP version for the Droid, which I think will be the closest-to-stock rom we'll see, or if CM7 ever gets finished. I'm pretty happy with Liquid Gingerbread 1.2 right now myself.

I'm using Ultimate Droid 3.0 and it's pretty awesome. I'm thinking I'll probably never use the official version of the OS ever again even if I get a new phone

UD 3.0 is pretty awesome!! And I been running custom ROMs since I've rooted my phone and I will never use another official version again!!

I agree with scarryman04. I heard the og droid wont get anymore ota updates. And zero3187.....i just flashed ultimatedroid 3.1.1 and my jaw dropped. My droids like lightening fast and i'll never go back to stock crap.
