FroYo Over The Air Update. Who Has It So Far? Check In Please

I just called my local Sprint and they looked at their emails and bulletins and they don't see anything about suspending the FroYo upgrade, as far as they know the push is still on, they also checked the Samsung site and no bad news there either. Lets hope that was bad info.

Push On!!!!!!

BTW I haven't received it as yet in St. Louis but still hoping.

Might be waiting a lot longer

Found this on Sprint website:

UPDATE:

There have been an increased number of calls into Care regarding issues with the Epic following the upgrade. As a result, the upgrade will not be pushed to more devices until a resolution for these issues is in place. The OTW update on the Samsung website will also be taken down.

Sprint and Samsung are actively working to correct these problems and release the update to all devices. I will provide updates as I receive them.

This might be a good thing! For some of us it may mean less problems later on.

Sprint Community: 2/21 - Samsung Epic Maintenance Release...

The issues being reported are related to data connectivity following the upgrade and SD card issues when attempting to access photos, music, etc. If you are experiencing these issues, a hard reset has been reported to resolve the problems. A hard reset will wipe out all the data on your device, so a backup should be done first.
To hard reset your device:
1. Turn off your phone
2. Hold the volume down, camera and power buttons until the system recovery screen appears.
3. Use the volume keys to scroll to wipe data/factory reset and select that option using the home key.
4. You will see a warning on the screen telling you that you are about to reset your phone and erase all your personal information.
5. Press the volume up key to proceed. Press the volume down button to exit and not reset your phone.
6. After the reset is complete, use the home key to select reboot system now.
7. Your phone will turn off and turn back on.

How can they take this long to to unveil the update, making sure everything runs okay, only to yank after a couple days??!!

updating manually now ftw

epic fail sprint/samsung

Still waiting patiently... Will not update the phone with "not ready for prime time" software. I would rather have a phone that works as advertised than one that is glitchy. My 2.1 eclair works flawlessly.

Sounds like doing the windows manual update which hard resets it should be fine. I may try that since I was planning to hard reset my phone anyway cuz of some other weirdness.

Better hurry then... Samsung is also pulling both manual update methods from their website.

I did the windows manual update which hard resets the phone 2 days ago and have had no issues. I also went to see if that update is still available, and it is. So I don't know WTF. But for all of you newbies out there, let me tell you the best way to upgrade a device or computer is do a full wipe and fresh install. The windows manual update way which hard resets the phone. My 2 cents,
15+ yr's exp with computers and operating systems.
Here is that link if you need it: How Do I Update The Software On My Sprint SPH-d700 (Epic 4G) Phone To Android 2.2 Froyo EB13 Build From A PC?

I would also like to know how to do a full back up. If the best thing for me to do is a hard reset, how do I do that and then have everything exactly the way it is now? Including the info i have stored in apps like a password manager , ect. If there is a way , please help. Have 2 epics that arent working completely properly. OR do I try to wait for another update , this is my first android phone so I'm not sure the best option and not comfortable with doing to much for fear of messing it up even more.
Any help would be appreciated

i did the manual update today (not the windows installer one) and i have had no issues so far.
my phone was slow and choppy for about the first half hour but after a couple of reboots, it works fine now. i do not have any problems with my gallery or screen orientation.
i was able to update the market by clearing the cache but like everyone else, i cannot see my apps in the market. the new sms bubbles are horrible.

If you or have you tried to look at your apps via the Android market online
Android.market.com ? You might be able to see your apps that way.

I tried this on the HTC EVO and it didn't work,

this is the message it says when I manually update:

E: failed to verify whole-file signature.
E: signature verification failed.
Installation aborted.

Guess I have to wait for the OTA update to come. :(

why would it work on the htc evo? it is for the epic. i would assume there would be some issues there
