Froyo Tomorrow What Should i do?

Does anybody know whether de-Binging the Froyo OTA will be as easy as it was for the original Fascinate release? I'm currently running SC 2.9.2, but I'm not happy with the battery life, so I wouldn't mind giving the OTA Froyo a try ... but only if I can de-Bing it.

I feel the exact same way. Sure my phone gets a 1500 on quadrant, but I get about half of the battery i had on the stock version, and i am running Adrynalyne's undervolted kernel and the SC 2.9.2. Id rather have a slightly slower phone for twice as long than a really fast phone thats dead in my pocket.

Definitely sticking with 2.9.2 and the EC01 kernel... these devs took the verizon crap and turned it into gold. No point going back to verizon's version. If and when the devs give us a clean version of the Froyo update, then I will flash to that ROM. Otherwise, no point taking 2 steps back.... just my opinion

Same here.

try the update and see if it works because I rooted way back when and I was still able to get it to work. the update would then override your root and put everything back like it was. You would of course have to re root again if you choose.
If that doesn't work, you would have to download a full stock froyo leak and install using Odin. When this is finished, then try to apply the updates.

Ty for the advice I will definitely try this out.

It depends on which apps you removed. If you removed any of the bloat, you will have to restore those items before the OTA will work.

I used Ti Backup to remove some of the bloat but I can reinstall again from what I understand with the program. I will definitely try this before anything else. Thanks for the advice.

<------forever the skeptic. I'll believe it when I see it (or at least see others with it). Never going back as long as I have this phone.

Hello new here just did my first root/cwm/sc Rom last night on my girls phone last night stayed up till 4 doing it and sure enough my luck verizon decides to finally push that darn update I'm a proud owner of a thunderbolt but my question is where can I get all the stock files if I choose to get the update and is it done threw odin or clockwork.

If you or your girl really feel.the need to go back, use this:

Post 9 will get you what you need. Otherwise stick around and have some fun unlocking what this phone can really do.

+1 to sticking with the custom ROM's. I couldn't imagine wanting to go back to the bloat, Binged etc....

I'll upload the update on my wife's stock Fascinate and put it through the rigors.. if I feel like they're are things worth updating back to stock I'll report...

Thank you!! That's pretty easy lol now one more question what if I want to restore to what it was before I installed froyo do I just go into clockwork go to restore find my backup and that is it or do I have to find that kernel and will it restore everything contacts/apps/mms/data...sorry for asking

Well, I just flashed back to stock from SC2.9.2 with the EC10 kernel.
I think I'm going to give this update a whirl. I'm just curious. If it sucks, I will flash myself back to what I had before. If the Devs bring us a ROM based off of the ED01 update, I won't have a choice but to flash and try it.
But for right now, I have the EA28 OTA update, no root, completely stock. Tomorrow, after I'm done with my finals, I shall download this beast.

I would venture to say that this update would be for the joe off the street/non rooted/don't know what a rom is/never mucked with his phone type of person. I would guess the number of those type of ppl are in the millions? Well maybe not millions but ALOT :D

If you made a nandroid backup before you upgraded to Froyo, then yes that is what you would do. Restore your nandroid backup, then flash the appropriate kernel and modem. The nandroid backup is a snapshot of your phone and will restore everything except for the kernel and modem. Everything else will be exactly as it was the day you made the nandroid backup. So any new apps you installed between then and now will not be gone until you download them again.

I'm not going to waste my time with verizon...that's exactly why I rooted my phone, and installed SC2.9.2.

I'm pretty sure something better will come after verizon's new release...LOL

This community have the best talent in the world...Thanks to all of you for keeping my phone interesting!!!!

Yeah there is definitely a new community ROM coming out according to Adrynalyne's EC01 ROM post... It will probably put the stock Froyo release to shame..

I quote "This ROM is ever so slightly tweaked. It is not a quality release by my standards (mostly because its stock). I recommend folks wait for the community rom to be finished. If you can't wait, by all means, flash away.
