Frozen Shrinking Text Messages

1. When I receive a notice that I have a message I go to "messages"and read it. Most of my messages are five or more lines. I then close it and go about doing whatever. Later (that day or later) I go back and want to get something from the message. I can see only a line or two of text and no amount of pushing buttons or looking at "menu" choices changes that. Is that the way it is designed or do I have some switch set in the wrong way? Can I solve this?

2. "messages" keeps very few text messages available (or at least viewable). Is there a way to retrieve older messages?

If you open the message does the entire thing still show?

No. The only thing I can see is the one or two lines which tell you what the message is about. If I close the message after I open it for the first time I can no longer open the message.

That's a weird one. Have you tried deleting the cache. It will remove the old messages but if you can't read them they aren't much good anyways.
