I've been using this device for a few days now alongside my iPhone 5s. Now while I've enjoyed using it the feel and look of it is awesome, I've become really frustrated at the m8.

I've noticed apps sometimes crash now and again. I'll open it and it'll just lag. On my iPhone 5s however these apps run flawlessly. There's more fluidity with apps on the iPhone. Why is this?

Battery drain seems to be quicker on the m8 compared to the iPhone.

Also the double tap feature works when it wants to. When it's on the table I have to tap it a few times for it to come on, sometimes I give up and press the power button.

Like I said it's a good device but don't get why I have to restart the device to clear cache to get rid of issues. Is this an android issues or the device itself?

well comparing an android drive to an apple device is not really a comparison. Its like saying my Ford Truck hauls more dirt then a pinto.

What version of android are you on? I found when i went from 4.4 to 5.x on mine it was not as smooth.
What steps have you taken to fix the issue? Have you wiped the cache? I for one hard reset after a major update, So going from 4.4 to 5.x i hard reset mine.
I also noticed a bug on mine with WiFi, it always kept CPU usage at 10%, normal should be about 3-5% when in stand by.
I ended up taking my stock TMO M8 and converting it to a GPe M8 and the device is much more fluid and has significantly better battery life.
I think HTC didnt do a good job (on TMO device) going from kitkat to lollipop.. But thats just my opinion.

The double tap only works with the phone upright, I found this out the hard way. It is good in a way, when I don't want the screen coming on I carry it upside down. It has turned itself on in my shirt and pant pocket when it's right side up facing my body.

This is one of the areas where Apple will beat Android. With Android being such an open system, the developers have to try and create apps that function with the ever growing number of different devices. Different processors, different screen sizes, different memory, different firmware, and on and on. Sometimes a bug will pop up on only one device, which may or may not be worth it to the developer to fix.

With Apple, you have a relatively few different devices and Apple's closed system tightly controls the specs of each one. So it's easier to optimize apps (and I hear they have stricter publishing requirements to get on their app store) for everything and bugs are more easily dealt with.

The double tap to wake up feature is designed to detect movement before the taps to wake the screen up. If it's sitting on the table and you tap it without picking it up, it won't wake up. Sometimes the rocking of the phone from tapping will be enough, then it'll recognize a double tap while laying down. That's probably what's happening with yours.

Cache on Android isn't like what most people expect and usually shouldn't need messing with. What problems are you experiencing that you think are cache related?

Cache will be a problem if you constantly use the home button instead of the back button (some people do), because when the app is eventually killed it won't clear its cache. If you back out of it, it clears cache as part of the closing process.

This is the first I've heard of this being any sort of issue. Have an article or anything explaining this?

Try opening a couple of apps, then each time you close them with the home button, when you go to recent apps and you select one, it loads up were it left off. If you do the same thing but using the back button, it needs to reload them once you open them from the recent apps

Thanks, it's just an overall observation. I've been reading up as I have been experiencing sluggishness with switching between apps and loading. In All honesty I didn't expect this to happen on any device.
