It was never about overcharging, the phone can stay plugged in 24/7 and the battery won't be hurt.
That goofy notice is for being green and saving energy. Other phones will actually tell you that when the alert comes on.
It's a silly gesture imo since we're talking less power than a Christmas bulb.
So I unplug from charging and most of the night its left discharging and I wake up with less than a full charge to start the day.... Don't think so.
