FYI: Changing LED Notification Color based on App - Light Flow

sounds close to berrybuzz on blackberry. Maybe you can also add vibrating and ringtone options for each of the apps you support.

No kidding! Just read through all 3 pages of this thread - definitely getting on up there to BerryBuzz quality! (which is high!)
This sounds much better than Blink. I'll be buying shortly (just going to test out the free first. Better safe than sorry, right?)

If you have any problems with it just post them here and I'll look into them.

Is there a way to make it so that the notification light also blinks when the screen is on?

I mean I like that it blinks when its off but sometimes, I like it to be on all the time too.

Thanks.

Sadly not, the android source code from what I've seen automatically stops them when the screen is on. If anyone knows otherwise let me know?

Andrew, I have a question.

I bought Light Flow.
Perhaps I missed it, but i'm having trouble with configuring Light Flow to cooperate with Handcent SMS.

I think it's Handcent's fault, but I think a fix could be done through Light Flow.

It's kind of confusing (I'm still pretty confused), but, basically...

I had notifications set through Handcent first, right? So when I installed Light Flow I needed to disable Handcent notifications so that I wouldn't receive double notifications once I set up Light Flow. Well, one thing that Handcent does besides blinking the LED, making a sound, and vibrating, is it displays a notification actually up in Android's notification panel at the top, which you can pull down and tap on in order to go right to the new text message or e-mail.

When I turned my Handcent notifications off, as well as my gmail app notifications off, in order to let Light Flow handle everything, these notifications at the top also disappeared. Now, only a sound, LED and vibration occurs. I thought "Okay, no big deal, I'll just turn ONLY that notification on in the respective apps, without sound, LED, or vibration. JUST the notification at the top" - so I tried that in Handcent, (and here's where I think there's a problem with Handcent), it gives me the notification back but it also put a sound back as well...so now I have double sounds again. Even though I clearly have "LED" unchecked, sound set to "Silent", vibration set to "none" in Handcent...as long as I have "Notification" set to "On" in order to get that notification at the top in the panel, a sound (as well as maybe vibration? Not sure) comes back as well.

Sorry for the huge wall of text...finding it hard to fully explain what I mean.

I was wondering if you could enable a notification panel feature of Light Flow? Or, if it's there, I'll be pretty embarrassed but please show me where? Then, I can completely rid myself of both gmail and Handcent notifications and avoid double sounds altogether.

One more thing: I thought Twidroyd was supported, but in the app all I see are "Tweetdeck" which I don't use, and a generic "Twitter" which I assume is for the native Android Twitter app which I also don't use? Could support for Twidroyd be included in a future release as well? :)

All this aside, I LOVE the app! Thank you very much!! It's really useful and I don't regret my purchase at all!

I love it so far. One of the best things it does is shut off the constant green when fully charged.

I'm on my phone so my answer will probably be quite short.
Twidroyd is supported, the general twitter section will pick up on Twidroyd notifications. Only reason Tweetdeck is different is due to it supporting twitter, Facebook and more?

As for handcent, I'm not too familiar with it, but my normal process would be to leave notifications on for all apps. If they have sound/vibration patterns i would use them. If not, use light flow. Same for repeating patterns. As light flow doesn't create notifications on the notification bar you want the ones from the app.

As light flow will stop the notification light just set the color up for that.
Hope that makes a little sense.

I have Handcent SMS, and I left the Handcent's notification as is, and used Light Flow.

Mine seems to work fine, I did some SMS test and I got the LED to blink fine.

Good multitasking :P
Alright, I think I understand what you mean.

For Twidroyd, you say just use the generic "Twitter" part. Got it.

For the bigger issue, I think you're saying don't use light flow for my SMS since Handcent takes care of my SMS just fine and includes the notification panel - correct? Okay, I'll disable SMS notification and use Handcent to handle that. Thanks for the response Andrew. :)

How'd you do it? What are your settings in Handcent notifications set to? (I know it's long, sorry..)

My LED blinks just fine, but I get double sound notifications (and perhaps also vibrations) - even though I have all sounds and vibrations in Handcent's notifications set to off or none. In order to get the notification in the notifcation panel I still put a checkmark next to "Enable notifications" in Handcent though. But it brings back my sounds for some reason..

No, leave handcent with its default settings and use the sms section of light flow just to control the color. With light flow installed handcent light notifications won't display so tgats why you need light flow to do it! That seems to be how it works for mrlee as pisted above.

jonneh, no worries. Here's my current settings in Handcent.

Notification settings:
Enable popup [ ]
Notifications [x]

Customized Notification settings:
Show unread count [x]
Privacy mode [x]
screen on [ ]

LED settings:
Blink LED [x]
Color of LED [Blue]
LED flash frequency [default]

...

1 quick note, when I first used Handcent, I was getting double notifications. This was because the stock messaging app was also set to give notifications.

I disabled all notifications for the stock messaging app, and used only Handcent's notification.

Hope this would shed some light.

Okay guys, I figured out what was messing me up. It was Handcent's popup deal. I finally (after many, many times switching back and forth between the two apps' settings screens) got it figured out. I don't even know which app is doing what to my SMS, but it works now and I'm going to call it a day lol.

Thanks for both of you guys' patience.

Not a problem :)

Thanks to andrewpmoore for his explanation too.

Glad you got it figured out. I didn't like the pop-up, hence i disabled it (and didn't go through what you just went through. hehe).

This is an awesome app and its well worth the price. Has a lot more features compared to Blink. I love the LED Notifyer on here.............reminds me of my X ever so loved BlackBerrys :).

PS. Dont get it tangled up, Ill still pop out the Bold 9700 if I have to! :)

EDIT: Added this app to the Atrix FAQs that are stickied. Post #3. I think Atrix owners would love to have this installed.

Yup Bob. Worth Buying totally. I just wish the LED was bigger like on the BlackBerrys.
