When the first announced the phone I kept reading its for the global market and what not. But I can't seem to stop thinking the G stands for Google. What Google really wants the phone to be..

- Low price off contract (Google loves this)
- nearly stock android (to show off kitkat and test future design/features aka Google nows "okay Google" from the default launcher)
- shows kitkat runs great on low specs (helps other OEMS and to destroy the perception that specs are the most important thing)

And other reasons I forgot lol.

Whatcha all think the G really stands for?

Hmm... I don't know. I kinda feel like the G is just used to be relative to the X. ...as to represent that its a lesser device.
