G Mail not syncing.......... again!

Not an issue with K-9

I did not notice any issues with mail coming in regularly, or with syncing. Seems as soon as I delete mail on the laptop, my notification light on the X stops blinking. I do use K-9 exclusively, and it's been reliable.

I had some weirdness last night with one of my gapps accounts but I thought it was due to google readeer screwing up. I had to uninstall greader finally and for some reason had to re-ad my personal gapps account to my phone. Is the native vs actual gmail app better or worse? I guess I didn't realize there was a difference (android n00b...and first post).

well, 24 hours later and yet another clear cache/data> NOT working again! Tried the native email app, same result. What is going on? I love my DX but basic features like email need to work.

From Home Screen Menu>>Settings>>Accounts>>Click on your Gmail account.

Make sure this is what you see:

If that is not what you see make sure you check all the boxes. If that IS what you see then go to Settings-->Data Manager-->Data Delivery-->Background data.

When you uncheck that it says that some apps may still use background data to function. However GMAIL is not one of those apps. Check it. If it is checked then:

Make sure you have not turned off the sync with the standard android power management widget. If you tap and hold at an empty spot on the home screen, select android widgets and then power control. It has a on/off for syncing. If it is enabled then:

This will sound repetitive but...

Open Gmail>hard menu button>Accounts>hard menu button>Account settings
Make sure Background data and Auto-sync are both checked
Back all the way out
Go to My Accounts
Click your Google account
Make sure Sync Gmail is checked

My gmail works fine. But I know how frustrating it can be to not have a feature work...I came from the Eris. My guess is there is something in the ever growing line of syncing check points that is stopping it from working.

Not the most tech savy but you guys made sure and check your wifi/sync options sometimes it's set to syn over wifi only? Or the other one with allowing background data to keep running.

Most time clearing Data or sync now should have fix that problem. It seems like you're experiencing more problems than others. Unfortunately, you might have to consider resetting the device. That's what I had to do to get my emails working again.
(KEEP IN MIND THAT ALL DATA WILL BE WIPE FROM YOUR PHONE- REVERTING THE DEVICE TO ITS ORIGINAL STATE) your pics wont be deleted, and you can save your apps by installing ?App Brain? from the market… sync all your apps with it and they'll be stored to your Gmail account - after resetting the phone...sign into your gmail account /reinstall app brain, and reinstall your apps.

Finally solved my problem by adding the power widget to one of my unused home screens. The sync button on it allowed my gmail to start syncing again.

Gmail on my phone is completely dead. And I've tried everything, and nothing works. I'm mystified as to why the damn thing won't even uninstall. And there's no way to sign out/sing back in. Very frustrating.
