Sheesh what is up with that ? It is normal on my end.

I know, it is driving me nuts. My pixel6 Pro didn’t do that.

Is this your Gmail account, or some other email provider going through the Gmail app?

It is both G Mail and Comcast account.

Try resetting the Gmail app , clear it's storage and Force stop it , possibly a glitch from an update

If that doesn't help try the Help section in setting and contact Google. They were helpful when I had a weird issue a few years ago.
