G Nex and sim card question

As a long time Verizon customs, sim cards baffle me.

I currently have a tbolt and will be eligible for an upgrade for a G Nex in November. Would I use that old sim card in this new lte phone or would I use a new sim card that would come along with the phone? I'd be keeping the same phone number.

I'm curios about this as well. The Thunderbolt is the only smart phone I've ever had, so I don't know how that works. I plan on buying the Prime off contract, though, and selling my Thunderbolt, but I'm wondering if I should keep my current SIM card and use that in the new phone.

My exact same situation. I wanna know if I can just pop in my SIM card. I'd rather get my answer here with people with experience than Verizon reps who most likely won't know what they're talking about.

As long as your SIM card is LTE (Which all Verizon phones with SIM cards are), and the Galaxy Nexus is also LTE, your SIM card will be fine.

Everywhere that you get your phone from will give you a new SIM card for free if you ask, so it doesn't really matter. You can keep that old one, get a new one. Doesn't matter.

Thanks for this answer. I, too, don't trust the reps at my local Verizon store or on phone support. Too often they don't know even the basic stuff i read about here and elsewhere.

I had a Thunderbolt. When I bought my Bionic I simply transferred over my SIM card from the thunderbolt and I had no problems connecting my voice/data services. No need to activate or get a new card.

It's easy and painless. I imagine it'll be the same way with the Galaxy Nexus (unless it uses micro SIM, is that even available yet?). Thank goodness for SIM cards!

The verizon wireless system should detect that you already have 4g and will not mail you a new sim card.

You should be able to use your existing sim card.

The only potential issue would be if the Galaxy Nexus uses a microSIM instead of a regular full sized one. Samsung's Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Stratosphere use microSIM's so its probably likely the Nexus will as well...
