G2 Wireless Charging Case?

Ok, I'm getting mixed information and can't really find a lot on this except charging stations. The Verizon version of the G2 is supposed to have wireless charging built in. Does that mean it is capable of wireless charging if you install the correct wireless receiver/back cover or is the receiver already built into the stock device from the store and all you need is QI compatible charger.

Online chat with verizon states that I need a cover and they are out of stock. Also could not find any covers on amazon for the LG G2. Did read that the European version of the G2 will need a cover replacement.

Can anyone shine a light on this for me? I have a friend who got one and I was thinking about getting him a wireless charger for his birthday and wanted to get all parts necessary. I know the Galaxy S4 has wireless charging but it needed a receiver add-on and a charging base.

Thanks
Michael

The wireless charging capability is built into the phone. I have a Verizon LG G2 with the LG Qi wireless charger base and they work very well together. I also have a case on my phone and i can still wirelessly charge my phone with the case on. Any Qi standard wireless charger will for with the G2.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for the information. I was hoping it was that way, not sure why the VZ tech told me I would need a case. I can now get him QI standard wirelsess charger and he will be fine.

Yeah!

try the nokia from at & t 25 bucks i have a rugged case on it to works great

I have seen that one. Also have found many QI chargers on Amazon and may get one there.

Thanks for the information
Michael

I currently have an OtterBox Commuter case on my Galaxy S4 and it doesn't interfere with wireless charging. Now with the G2 the wireless charging is already built in so nothing to add to the thickness of the phone and the wireless charging will work up to like 10mm I think.

You can make sure you have a good return policy for the case and purchase, if it doesn't work, send the case back.

Hope this helps.

I'm curious as well. I'm using a Ballistic case and I don't really want to purchase a wireless charger without knowing if it's actually going to work.

I had a DNA when I bought my Nokia Qi charger. I had a kickstand case and I was worried about whether it would be a problem. The Verizon store I was at had a few different charges available to test and was happy to open different once to let me decide which one would work best. Of course, not all stores may be as accommodating.
